Will a 2004 Canopy fit on a 2000 Chevy bed?

I have a 2000 chevy. I have found a canopy from a 2004 chevy. I have studied the pictures, and it all looks good besides the tail gate, which is a simple fix. Just a question for the Canopy GODS. Any body have an answere, or even better some personal Experionce?

Depends, is your 2000 Chevy a "Classic" model which is the older body style or the later body style? GM continued to build GM400 body style trucks up until 2000 model year. If they are the same body style, yes they will interchange. If not, it won't fit nicely as the beds are a bit different widths.

Again, be careful with 2000 model year GM trucks as there are GMT400 trucks (like the white truck above) and GMT800 (the gawdy blue one above). Not all assembly plants moved to the new body style at the same time so there were a lot of old body style trucks well into 2000. In fact, the GMT400 body style went into the 2001 model year on 3500-HD chassis cab trucks.

Here is an example of 2000 model year old body style truck. Even shows the manufacture date on the door.

So, from what I have read my truck is a GMT800. Its the 2000 with the 5.3 engine not the older 5.7. (It is not the classic 2000.) The only difference in my truck and the guys truck at first glance, are head lights and tail lights. I was just checking if any one new if the box measurements are the same, and where the canopy would be close to the cab is the same. Or any small things that people might know of. Okay we got the truck body style figured out, now what exactly are you calling a canopy? A camper shell (topper), soft topper like a Canback or a toneau cover? If you are looking at a topper one more thing to consider is to make sure both trucks have the same cab configuration. Standard cabs, extended cabs and crew cabs have different cab heights and rear window angles. If you put a crew cab topper on an extended cab (or vise versa) truck the roof lines do not line up correctly.

It is a A.R.E. Camper shell. The MX style (the raised roof one). My truck is a extended cab, I am unsure of his. If it was a four door (crew cab). Is there a huge difference?

Yes, there is a height and rear cab wall angle difference between an extended cab and crew cab. You can use a crew cab topper on an extended cab but they don’t look quite right. Also beware there are 2 bed lengths when you start talking short bed GMT800 trucks (3 bed lengths if you include long bed trucks). You can go here and download the GM body builder spec manual which outlines dimensions for the GMT800 trucks. A.R.E’s are nice toppers to by the way!
