With the stock wheels on it what kind of tires can i put on those Rims? I want like a 31 inch tire, i know the stock tires had inner tubes in them but can i run tubeless new tires on them?

You are probably going to have to find something like 215/85r16s to fit those rims. You might be able to go tubeless, my rims weren't in that great of shape so I went with tubes.

Coker sells a tire called the STA supertraxxion or something like that. Not exactly modern performance but better then the stock NDTs. Might be of interest if you wanted to stick with a more vintage vibe.

Ehhhhhhhh maybe? That is pretty wide, those rims are only about 4.5 or 5 inches wide. Might rub but there are steering stops. It could be hard to steer as well. Maybe mount a used one to check things out?

I have had a few early jeeps over years, 3b, CJ6, and early CJ5. Unless you have huge forearms or plan to upgrade to power steering you want to find a narrow tire. We call them "Pizza Cutters"

My CJ6 had no power steering and at the time BFG made a 32 or 33 in by 9.5" wide all terrain and they worked pretty good on the stock rims with a lift.

Gonna be a tight fit unless you move the rear axle back a touch ( about 1/2-1") and/or lift it ( and maybe trim the wheel well opening )

After a 780 mile Trip finally got it home! Start work on it tomorrow, it may look rough but it runs and its is 100% original, and is all there. Cant wait to drive it!

I found a survivor on the way home! But the owner was very adament about not selling it, so i guess he is going to let it rot, what a waste of a piece of Jeep history!

What is the cheapest 1inch lift for a cj3a?

Cheapest is a shackle lift, but that does not help with 60+ year old leaf springs.

Go over to earlycj5 forum. I know you think why an early cj5 forum. They are not purist and will not mind questions that deviate from the way your jeep came frame the factory. And they have a flat fender area.

I used to spend a lot of time over there when I had the 3b and the CJ6. You will not find a friendlier and helpful group of in the early jeep community.
