Winch Install

I picked up a M8000 and was installing in my 08 Tacoma.

Question on the motor ground cable. It says to connect back to the battery, but the angle of the cable makes it nearly impossible to connect. So my question is this, what about connecting to the ground point that is only 6 inches from the battery on the fender. The battery grounds there already and the bolt is the perfect size for the winch ground. Do you guys think this is ok.

Personally, I would ground back to the battery even if it means going to an electrical store to get a different end for the ground cable.

Thanks guys I will make sure to hook it directly to the battery terminal.

the only issue would be that the screw/bolt you speak of, generally isnt run to the battery with the same size wire. if you ran some similar sized wire to that point, then it would work just fine.

Battery direct is the perfered method.
