I like to research models I would like by Scala or Dorfman and hunt down on ebay or Amazon. Unfortunately fit and even hat size is often inaccurate so trying in hand is best.

It's more expensive but have you thought about fur felt? Can be more comfortable.

I do not have a preference of wool or beaver. I wore a Stetson Felt hat for 20 years. Just want a cool short brim and shorter crown packers style.
