Work Truck Camper Shell

Here n the job site yesterday I spoted the truck in the attached picture with what appears to be a fiberglass shell on a F350. This one was packed full of sewer line camera equipment (and an AC unit on the top), but looks like it would be a great shell to make an expedition camper out of. has anyone seen these before or know who makes them? Do they make hem for any other size truck? They look pretty heavy, but stripped down they might be not be too bad. sorry for the poor picture, it just happen to end up in the background of a shot I was taken for some rebar details (cropped out).

SpaceKap is a name I've seen them sold under, I priced one out and it was close to price of a 4wheel camper for nothing more than soe fiberglass, was too $$$ IMHO.

Pricerelli?

Curious to know the price, ballpark, that you were given.

I looked at the fiberglass units seriously before going with a Callen. For me, they were attractive for their durability and streamlined qualities. And there are many options as far as height, cabover, and doors. You can get one that a person can stand up in if need be.

But, they are slide in units. For someone wanting a unit that can be removed, that might be a good way to go. For a dedicated truck, it's a huge waste of space. It's not a small amount of area that is compromised due to it being a slide in unit.

We saw these guys (a different company, but similar) showing their products at the 2010 Portland Sportsman Show.

http://www.tufport.com

It looked like a nice product, but pretty customer specific.

(it will be good for someone looking for just that, just what it is)

From what I remember it priced out somewhere around the price of one of our "empty pop-up shell models".

$ 6000 - $ 7000 (+ or -)

They must have been brand new models at the show, because they still had the really strong smell of fiberglass.

Looked like nice units, well built.

The only concern I had when reading the show fliers was the "One Year Warranty".

But after reading their web site, it looks like they have been building for 40 years, so they probably have the proocess dialed in and refined. They look tough !

:)

I was inquiring about one with a rear door and windows in the sides and a couple other options fitting it out like a camper and it was approaching 10k. Then when we started a family I knew I'd need two beds so I'd need the cabover.
