Hello ladies and gents. I lurk here often, post here little, but after a lot of searching I really haven't found a satisfactory answer to my question. Which is basically, is there going to be a significant difference between sizes trying to find tires worldwide for my 15" steelies? I'm looking in the 31" to 33" range, and I don't want to set myself up for failure when and if I get to take my Jeep on some overlanding outside the US.
Basically I currently run 31x10.5 tires on 15" steelies with 4" backspacing on my XJ with a 3" lift, and I'm really considering running larger tires when I swap to an OME suspension. I've read the many benefits of skinnier tires, but they're somewhat hard to find even in the US. Am I going to be able to find 33x10.50 tires worldwide? Will 32x11.50 or 33x12.50 be any better? Or should I bite the bullet and fork over cash for 16" steelies and run metric sizes? Hoping some folks with experience roaming other continents can weigh in. I will probably tackle a South America trip first, but I would be happy to learn more about any continent's tire availability. Thanks.
