WOW.... 2008 Unicat Amerigo MXT for sale on eBay...$300k!

Also, the MXT really doesn't offer anything that a F450/550 doesn't, right down to the same engine in similar vintage Fords.

And as nice as Unicats are, GXV kills their market in America based on price.

Absolutely right about the GXV.
But regarding drivetrain, if you were to somehow put 395s on a F550, the axles wouldn't last very long. Although I think the MXT's axles are really designed for 365/80R20s. Even those would be way too much tire for a F550.

Don't forget that the $300k is NOT the selling price ... ad states that price doesn't meet the reserve.

Reserve (the ACTUAL minimum selling price) could be set much, much higher. Anybody know if the seller has indicated the actual selling price anywhere else?

Be a nice lookin' rig if it was painted OD Green. :sombrero:

It's interesting how little rear axle is under the camper frame.
I don't see how they could have done this camper in the vehicles 14,000 GVWR. At least an F550 can be ordered with a ~19,500 GVWR and longer CA.
I didn't get the market for the MXT at all. At best I could figure it out as a giant Hummer.

Interesting it has a conventional RV roof AC. I wonder if that's a first for unicat.

Getting above $300K I would rather have GVX build a custom camper. That seems to me to be the competition for this unit. But he only needs one buyer. I expect "in person" it's impressive and some of the awkwardness is less noticeable.

The rear seat area of the MXT is huge, but I doubt the camper is comfortable with four adult size people. Mann trucks have such an advantage from the standpoint of being able to "dial in" the desired characteristics on a new truck. In the U.S. we always seem to be trying to make less than perfect trucks work.

Unicat response

For the record, this MXT based Unicat was built on the military version which is rated at 23,500. In addition, Unicat sleeved the chassis and added rear air suspension. Without doubt, Unicats are the finest built expedition-grade vehicles on the planet. Look at the whole or at each component and the differences with the competition are obvious and significant. Their design goals are quality, function, safety, reliability, and comfort. Price is secondary and appearance is relegated to "form following function".

It's true that GXV prices are lower and without disparaging Mike or his products, it's also true that Chevy costs a lot less than Mercedes.

This particular vehicle was intended for use as a demo but International pulled the rug from under us. My father ended up purchasing the vehicle but can't use it due to serious medical problems. Our misfortunes with this vehicle will enable someone to end up with a phenomenal deal.

As for comments about the vehicle's comfort and travel-worthiness, my wife and I traveled with it through Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. We found it to be extremely comfortable to live and travel in, both on and off road.

You couldn't have said that any better! As you may know, I'm a former employee of Unicat. Therefore, I can know first hand, that these vehicles are build to last and are worth their money for a long long time! In fact, I'm still in contact with several Unicat owners, some of them are on the road for many years already and are still very happy!
On the other hand, I have also met owners of other brands (european manufacturers) and quiet a few of them had nothing good to say...

Anyhow, I'm sorry about your dad! Hope he is getting better soon.

Cheers
