Wrangler "completely new in 2017"

That's the perfect description of a Land Rover Defender. Too bad they are going out of production.

Except for the improved safety equipment/design. The Defender was timeless. Almost.

I read one article that speculated the pickup would be built on the largest chassis, the one used for the new Grand Wagoneer. That would mean an El Camino-style truck, with IFS.

Thats coming as well. The Wagoneer is coming back (supposedly they will kill the Durango.) However, it will be in the 70K range, and basically be as nice as the GC inside, sort of like a GC Summit XL.

I think I need a bigger truck!
Interesting times ahead.

I wanted a Jeep Commander XK for a long time, lots of room, power to tow and haul my kids and crap around. I was sad when they killed them in the lineup. I ended up with a Grand Cherokee WK, love it, but a lot smaller than the Commander inside even thought they are based on the same chassis. I think a new 3 row seating BIG Jeep is a good call...lots of people out there with families and crap to haul and small SUV's are usually just too small, mid sized too mid sized. A Diesel in a full sized unit (the 3.0L VM unit) will be a winner!

They are already selling a LOT of the RAM 1500 with the 3.0L diesel here, and cheap too. Entry level RAM with the diesel, 4 doors and 4x4 with a nice option package is going for $27K on sale last month. The Jeep GC's as well. I like this trend.

Im sure that they will not muck up the wrangler. I have one now so Im not worried however. The wife is in line for a renegade when they are released. We were all ready to get a trailhawk Cherokee, but she likes the renegade body design better. I still might try to get her into the Cherokee however, just a bigger vehicle. I am anxiously waiting for the 3 row jeep. I will keep my unlimited and grab one of those for sure.

If they don't offer a bare-bones Wagoneer, ick.
It needs a blue collar variant. Born to beat. Not another P-Diddy phat ryde.

The willys now is pretty good variant. Who ever thought of the "dragon" variant, should be shot with a bucket of dragon feces. Sport is the best one to get for real world useage. Rubicon is great, but e discos and lockers are NOT REALLY needed. For the extra money you can do better in the aftermarket.

This is one of the primary reasons I got a sport with the only option being A/C, its nice having a jeep without alot of fluff. Roll up windows, manual doorlocks, manual gearing and 3.73 gear ratio.

My sport has the trailer tow package, ac, power windows and locks, I added a mygig headunit and thats about it inside.

In the power plant department, maybe North America will finally get a diesel option. Would you prefer the V6 diesel used in the Grand Cherokee, or the four cylinder diesel used in Jeep export models? Or would a smaller turbo gas engine, similar to Ford's Ecoboost models, be a better choice? Ford's 2.3L turbo 4 produces more power and torque at lower rpm than the gas V6 in today's Wrangler.

Chrysler/Fiat did just announce the SRT Dart for 2016, so they will have a turbo 4 ready to go just in time. My guess is that'll be the way they go.
