Mud would be my first recommendation too, it always seems like there are some clean well built units for a fair price.
Your probably well aware of this but I figured its worth mentioning, the FJ80 was the 91-92 model year, featuring the 3FE. The FZJ80 was the 93'-97' model and had the up-powered 1FZFE as well as other added features as time progressed such as the FF rear axle with disc brakes and the optional e-lockers. An then there is the LX450 which for all intensive purposes is the FZJ80 with additional trim. The reason I bring it up is searching places like eBay, Craigslist, autotrader, etc for an FJ80 might really limit your results and therefore options. Also keep in mind that some features didn't happen across the board, ie you can get an FZJ80 that still has the semi-float rear axle and drum brakes. And if lockers are something you are searching out, ask for pictures of the dash (showing switch) as well as some pic from underneath verifying the diff's have the acutators. You'd be surprised how many folks have picked up 'locked' 80's just to find out they had the center diff lock and open diffs. Long story short all of them can be great rigs but some have options that could lend themselves to your needs more than the next.
Good luck in the search!
