I've seen a few LTs in the states - 25 year rule applies. I've seen full camper conversions, firetrucks, ambos and minimalist rigs, 2wd and 4wd.

They show up on thesamba.com classifieds every once in a blue moon. There's a guy in florida who imports - can't remember contact info.

This dude from belgium has a good rep in the vanagon community & I know he's found LTs for folks: http://busman.be/infolt/

Jed in UK also lists LTs sometimes: http://campervanculture.com/category/vw-syncro-for-sale/

I just came across this "cheap" one for sale. Not sure it's what you're looking for but here's the link anyway.

That's a normal Vanagon Syncro. The LT is a different model. They actually have straight axles, a front engine and are bigger, but were never imported to the US. I think they were imported to Canada in limited numbers but might be wrong. Pretty much the only way to get one here is to have it imported unless you find one that someone else imported.

Sorry I read the op too quick. There was one for sale a while ago in Canada with Union axles swapped in. I too looked at them but they don't have the best reputation although they win on the cool factor. Good luck!

Cheers
