WTB: Toyota Tacoma 4 door 4x4 expedition ready or partially built

As the title states I am looking for a Tacoma ready to go, or at least partiall built out. I am not too picky about the details, must be 4 door. Also I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler with 116,000 I would be willing to apply towards the transaction (aka trade). I hope to stay $20,000 or less but depending on the rig, I could be swayed to spend more. So please send me pics of your truck and hopefully we can make a deal.

Thanks,

Daniel

Did you see this one: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/138876-2006-Tacoma-4-door-TRD-Off-ROAD, not more than 10 posts down in this very same sub-forum? FWIW, it's not mine ... just happened to look at that post/thread earlier today. Good luck in your search, seems you have a good idea of what you want, and that something like it comes up fairly regularly ... you should have some to choose from, especially if you *can* be a bit flexible in price.

@skibum, I know I said I wasnt too picky regarding the details. However the tan/champagne color as well as white arent for me. Just dont care for them. Thanks for pointing it out though. Its a great truck at a good price, wish it was black or something.

@travis I dont care I actually like 1st gen better, but the 1st gens tend to have too many miles on them. Preferably I would find something with less than 120k.

Travis' rig is super nice, however purchasing a rig from across the country is a bit nerve racking. Any built or partially built tacomas as described in previous posts a little closer to alabama (e.g. southeast)
Thanks
Daniel

EDIT: Willing to travel for the right rig.

I wouldn't be deterred by the right vehicle if it is on the other side of the country. You would be assuming slightly more risk, but communicating in depth with the seller is the key. Get lots of additional photos, vehicle history documentation, and videos - until you're comfortable. Knowledge is power and if you know what you're looking for, then you'll know a deal when you see it. I've bought and sold multiple Jeeps and trucks sight unseen with no issues. For payment, check out escrow.com - their service is affordable and well worth it for peace of mind. I can recommend a few shipping companies if you're interested.

In the end, the $1k'ish in additional expenses is worth it in my opinion (to use a shipping company and third party money holder like escrow.com) if the truck is set up with premium accessories and modifications you would be completing anyway. It will likely save you money and time in the long run.

You're right, and I think for the right truck it would be worth it. I started out wanting a truck to build on my on, then partially built. However, now that I have a 2 month old my time is pretty limited, so I think I want to buy a built truck that I only need to add a few personal touches to. That being said, if you got one or know of one that you want to sell let me know. I am really wanting something with less than 120,000 miles on it, so I can keep it for a long time.

Exactly. Find a truck that is 75% (or more) of what you want. Then use it for awhile, see what works and what you want to add - and go from there. It will save you a lot of time and money (if you do your research prior to buying). I had to suppress the whole "built-not-bought" crap I was listening to over the past ten years. I sold my last vehicle because I simply got burned out on it and wanted a fresh start. It was satisfying building a Jeep from scratch, but in the end I felt like I was spending more time in the garage and less with my family in the great outdoors.

Be patient and search everyday. You'll find your truck. I'll keep an eye out and pass along anything I find as well.

Cheers,
