WTB-Tyre Pliars & Spoons

That's actually why I'm doing this-saving a TON of cash doing it myself over paying schwabs to do it for me. I have 5 to mount on new rims, 5 to dismount on old rims, and figure after paying for a new tool for trail use when needed, I'm still saving a bunch over paying to have it done. If I buy new, still will be coming out ahead, just would be cool to find a great deal on a used set if possible. I lost one recently for $100 complete, brand new, never used, with spoons! :Wow1: Obviously a deal like that won't happen very often, BUT still doesn't hurt to ask...

Best of Luck,

Mike
If you'll mount an anchor in the floor of your garage, you can change tires pretty fast and safely. I have one in my shop, and Though I don't change tires regularly, I can do it much easier now.

Can you elaborate a bit? We've moved to a new place complete with 3 car garage and a shop in the back. I'll be sinking anchors for the compressor and soon to be bender so another set for a tire station won't bother me at all-provided I can use the flush-mount style anchors and remove it when not in use to get it out of the way. Feel free to PM if you like. Interested to see what you're talking about. I'm all for making things easier. Hell, I'm used to doing tires with a hi-lift or bottle jack off the rear bumper. Was hoping the tyre pliars would make that method a bit easier. If this shop anchor setup is even easier yet, I'm all for it! :wings:

What I've done was to anchor a loop in the concrete so I can chain down the tire to get more leverage while I'm prying on it. I used a 3/4" Red Head anchor (overkill, probably) and installed a bent steel loop under the bolt head. I use a short chain with a longish bolt connected to it to hold the wheel assembly to the floor while I'm prying on it. I've found it way easier now that the tire can't move around. My setup isn't flush mounted, but takes up little useable space.
