WTB used MT45 fridge handle, bag, slide lock -SoCal

Hoping to find the above mentioned items used, cheap, and locally in SoCal..I am between L.A. and San Diego so I can pick up along the way..

..The handle and screws I need are on the controls side..P.O. removed mine and lost it before I bought it and I am needing to get this thing secured better than the current ratchet straps..

..If I find a slide lock I wouldn't need the rear handle though..

..Any links for slick ideas of mounting this fridge only to the floor of the vehicle are welcome

Do you have a way to secure a piece of plywood to the floor, perhaps bolting it through the holes used for cargo hooks?

..I am seriously looking at the slide lok though and wondering if it is sufficient in a roll over or accident when it's loaded..I will probably still need the missing handle as I might get some of those straps to use as additional mounting points so, if anyone has those straps I am looking for those too..

You could try this. I have the same fridge and this set up has worked really well for me for the past year. I do not have the handle installed in the back, won't fit with the seat back upright. But it really is quite secure...cost for materials is maybe 20 bucks, and 30 minutes of your time. Obviously you have to unbuckle the strap over the top to access the fridge, but it takes all of one second, no big deal.

..Do you have a link to that info including parts shown?

..I am thinking about taking out one of the back seats, customizing something in it's place for the fridge, but it still needs to be secured..

..I do like the strap over the top with the quick release...That strap adds some security over the latch being the only thing keeping the lid secured and the contents of the fridge from coming out in a rollover..


..Please tell me no Trasharoo's were harmed for the usage of that strap..

You have a keen eye. The strap is in fact from a Trasharoo, after the zipper decided to self-destruct. But it was graciously replaced by Wil at Sierra Expeditions, with Dave's (from Trasharoo) blessing. But it's easy to make your own fridge tiedown.

(I know REI used to sell this as well, but I couldn't find the 2" webbing on their site. Might be able to find it at a craft store as well. I just cut it to a custom length and had my girlfriend sew the ends to prevent fraying.)

Something similar to this. Mine aren't recessed, and there are lots of styles to choose from.

Clips:

Couldn't find a link for the clips on the webbing that attach to the anchor tiedown, but again, hardware store. Should be pretty easy. I too thought about removing a seat...but this seems to work just fine for now. Biggest things to consider are making sure the turnbuckles fit through the clamps, and make sure they are the right length between the clamps and eyehooks. Good luck!!

Checked out the other thread, looks like you're doing a good job of thinking things through. Hope it works out the way you want it to, seems like you have plenty of room to work with. I like the fan too, think it's the first time I've seen that.

..The fan has been a constant in my trucks out here for over a decade..They are 12v with a strong spring clamp, an on/off switch, and it has a switch for fixed or oscillate..About $12 at wally world or $15 at most auto parts stores or truck stops..

..I am trying to find some black strap material about half the width of the Trasharoo strap..I am taking the handles off and want to run a diagonal strap down from the handle mount location to the seat belt mounts at the floor and hoping to be able to quick clip those too for reaching around in the other storage areas..

I've seen the fans before, just never used like that to help keep the compressor cool. Smart idea. REI has the webbing in 1" width, and they sell it by the foot.

..I stopped by and saw Dave and Yoshi at the home of the Trasharoo and they were kind enough to give me something that might work for what I'm doing..If not, it's off to REI..

..What is a good high strength thread to use with this and I would assume REI would have some thread?

..I did get most of the unit built yesterday, carpeted, and hopefully I will have the wiring in by Friday before I take off for the Customer appreciation held up in Gorman this weekend..It won't be 100% done but as good as it will be until I figure out what i'm doing on one side of the fridge..

Sweet. Are you talking about thread to sew the webbing? I just used whatever my girlfriend had on hand. You could check at a craft store and see if they have anything heavy duty. Sewing machine might work best.
