Lone Cone is on NFS property south of Norwood, CO. That shot was this time last year, I'm sure it's just as nice now though.

I flew over the Rockies 4 times in the past week and the colors were breathtaking. It looked like gold lava flowing in the valleys.

I'll be in Aspen for 3 days of hiking next week. I can't wait!

Man, that makes me homesick.

I grew up in Cortez, and about a million years ago I worked several summers at a Boy Scout camp at the base of Lone Cone. I wonder if it's still there?

I’ve hiked to the top of Lone Cone several times.

Swimming in Miramonte was exhilarating, to say the least.

Driving through Disappointment Valley, there was nothing for miles, just one old dead tree. I drove through there several times, and always thought out-loud, “there should be a buzzard sitting in that tree.”

Then the last time I drove through, there was.

Nice, Lynn. It's a good part of the world for sure. Here are a few more to jog your memories...

Nice photos. Makes me sick that this is in my backyard and once again, never made it up to see the color change. Man, working really sucks.

Stop it! Stop it! Yr gonna make me cry!

Not really. Just boosts my need for an RV and a Jeep.

Oh, and retirement...

Back in '02 my wife and I caught the narrow gauge when the leaves were changing. What an increadible ride. The aspens were great, but it would have been slightly better if the oaks had been changing, as well. I think it was too dry that year.
