What sort of gas mileage are you XJ folks getting with expedition type use? I'm wondering what to expect, mpg wise, fully loaded with camping gear, water, recovery gear, etc., on rough roads that dictate 25 mph or less speeds with occasional or frequent use of 4WD. :safari-rig:

Well, I haven't done more the 100 miles of dirt roads only at one time but here is what I am typically getting. YMMV (pun intended)
Dirt Only, towing Kamparoo trailer (1500#), approx 10-11mpg
Dirt Only, without trailer, approx 12-14mpg (unless I am playing a lot in the sand dunes)
Combined Dirt/Freeway, 15-16mpg
Freeway only, towing Kamparoo trailer (1500#) 40% 3rd gear, 60% 4 gear usage, 16-17mpg
Freeway only, no towing, speed kept at 65mph, 20-21mpg
Mixed city/freeway, 17-19mpg
