i'm putting a much simpler setup in my girlfriends Liberty currently - see progress here: http://offroadpassport.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3572

I will be following this one for sure!
Just put tasker on my Nexus 7(2013) just trying to figure out how to do my head unit delete and then writing the taker apps.
Have you thought about doing a new update on your tablet and the tasker settings? or for the new tablet when you get it installed.

you might consider "Autosleeper Auto power ON-OFF" or Llama if you don't want to mess with tasker. they aren't as powerful, but they can do what most people probably need without anywhere near the complexity of learning tasker.

and yes, i am doing a tasker config for my GF's tablet, but it will be done from scratch for her scenario (simpler). i will try to post some details when i get to it next week probably. i think it will be something like this (edited after thinking on it more):

- tasker detects a power source (Jeep on or else charging at home) - turn on BT. if in the jeep then it will auto-reconnect to the BT audio receiver, so then...

- tasker detects the BT receiver is connected - trigger a task to go into "car mode" (GPS/screen/4G all on, etc). also set variable %INCAR = true

- later tasker detects power source is removed (Jeep turned off or else removed from charger at home) - then do a task and check if %INCAR is true, then go into "sleep mode" (everything possible turned off) and clear the %INCAR variable. the tablet should be able to stay like this for several days.

- have another tasker action with a shortcut to it from the home screen, tapping this will put the tablet into "default mode" for home/travelling use (clear %INCAR, turn wifi on, screen timeout 2 mins, BT off, whatever is typical use).

- also create a shortcut to the "car mode" task so she can manually activate that mode if needed (sometimes tasker, BT, or even the whole Android OS just doesn't behave in exactly how is expected, so a manual override is always good).

to accomplish all this with tasker, you pretty much need to be rooted, have the "Secure Settings" tasker plugin (the free version), and i'll also be using the "Tasker Is Music Playing Plugin".

:Wow1:
Fantastic! I have a spare Xoom, Just (Dec 2015) purchased an AWD Astro Van to make a mild (in comparison to yours and others) "Adventure Van" for my kids. I was looking at RAM mounts and figured I'd look on EP.. WOW. Thanks for this posting, way way WAY beyond me, but I like the software reviews etc.

I'm in Phoenix and will keep an eye out for your Jeep
