XPCamper disappointment.

I did my research, visited the factory, talked to Marc, and paid my money. Then I suffered with my XPv1 for six months before I sold it at a considerable loss. Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I have heard a similar story here before.
I have no interest in the platform, but maybe you would like to elaborate on the issues? Did Marc offer to help or buy back etc?

I think any camper platform on the Taco is to much weight! Yes you can up grade springs, add air bags install better brake pads but at the end of the day you will be over GVWR by 1000 lbs!

Lots of experienced taco owners are pretty well spoken about the weight concerns of just about any of the respected fully fitted campers. So Im not sure why that wouldnt be something you were aware of going into it. The really light solo guys seem to do ok and like the setup but they are always first to mention they are pretty careful about packing and weight watching.

Even the 1500 / 150 full sized guys put some effort into being weight watchers with campers that are more than just fancy shells. I think in general being weight aware comes with any camping rig today given its not hard to get heavy with all the cool gear and options we have today.

I had problems with: Webasto dual top (unable to get serviced anywhere), water pump fails, sump pump fails, fiberglass cracks, dinette table ripping off wall, tent leaking, underbed storage flooding, underfloor storage flooding, molding due to leaks, windows leaking, skylight blowing out, door not fitting (3 doors made, none fit), gaskets failing, dust/dirt blowing into camper, battery stack falling over and tearing up floor because it wasn't fastened down, entire electric system failing because of batteries not stabilized,
And I could go on....
No, Marc refused to take the camper back. He refused even to buy it back at any price. All repairs went onto my insurance, and the insurance company thus dropped me. Marc finally agreed to "broker" it for me, but charged me to "refurbish" it first, including repairs such as repainting and mold removal and even repairing the door that was never right to begin with! Then he sent me a check for about 3/4 of its value, but refused to tell me what he actually sold it for.

I kept the XP flatbed (which also has problems) and had Alaskan Campers custom build an 8' side dinette with cab-over onto it. I've been living and camping in it for about 6 months now without any problems. It may be low-tech compared to XP but damnit everything works and nothing falls apart!
