Yaesu Ft-7800 install

I know that there have been other installs here but I figured I would post up mine as I did a few things differently...

I purchased the radio from www.hamcity.com, and tried to figure out where I would mount everything. The previous owner had wired a sub and an amp in the back already, I'm usually not a big audio freak but it sounded decent so I kept it in there so it became an obvious out of the way place to mount the radio especially because the Ft-7800 I bought came with a free seperation kit.
So this is how I mounted the radio (I obviously haven't cleaned all the wires up pefectly yet)...

I then ran the seperation kit up to the front of the cab and this is where I have it sitting for right now. I haven't totally figured out if this is where I want it permanently, but it works great for right now.

My biggest frustration about it all was having to take the cover of the storage compartment in order to hear anything on it. This was especially bad when I had gear in the back. So I was going to figure out a way to mount a speaker up front in the cab and plug it in, but then I thought of another solution while I was installing the aux cable from my headunit to my IPod I went over to Radioshack and bought a y-splitter for an audio jack with 2 male ends I used one to go to the IPOD, and one to go to the cable that came with the seperation kit. Now I can hear the HAM through all the speaker of the truck and it works great!!
Here is the splitter (the black cord goes to the HAM, and the white cord goes to the back of the headunit aux jack)
