After seeing a few great installs, most notably barlowrs, I decided to share how I installed my ham radio in my 2003 Tacoma. I put a lot of thought into it and decided that this set up works best for my needs, so far no down sides.

That is AWESOME! I would make the simple recomendation that you turn the radio is turned 90* so that the display is a more readable when you are in the drivers seat. Otherwise what a great clean installation!:wings:

incase i need to do a ham radio install, I like that you kept full beverage capacity during the install, always important to stay hydrated on the trail :Wow1:

Sometimes I put it in a Super Man coozie and plop it in my cup holder. It works fair enough but the audio is a little soft. So now I have pretty much decided on the seat install unless my fiance is with. Then out comes Super Man again.

The thing i like the most about it is that you wont loose any money on the install setup when you sell the truck..:wings:

HAHAAHAHAHAHA, wow, I laughed so hard the guy in the cube next to me got mad. haha

I had the screen small since I am at work trying to be sneaky, so I only saw the text at the top, then I scrolled down and saw the pics WOW classic! hahahaha

on a serious note though, how is the range on a handheld compared to a mobile unit liek the 7900 or 8800? is ther a noticable difference? That would be nice to have on my climbing trips when I am not around my car and out the in middle of no-where.

Ahahaha..... been combing the internets for rig install pics since I'll probably be doing mine this weekend.

I like it, but I don't think I could bear to drill into the middle of the seat like that :coffeedrink:
