Yokohama geolandar G015 or Coopers?

That is an excellent test. Too bad we don't see more of those.

Add a tread and sidewall integrity test and a rolling resistance test, and it would be near perfect.

And just to confuse your decision making, here is a post that says the Copper AT3 sucks for MPG compared to the Ko2: http://www.expeditionportal.com/for...age-increase-going-from-Cooper-AT3-to-BFG-KO2

I'm skeptical since I haven't seen other people raving about MPG with their Ko2s, but...

I didn't notice any change in mileage with the Ko2's on my Duramax. I did notice as the tread wore down the mileage got slightly better, but that's normal. I can't see any of the AT tires offering a significant mileage gain.

With the sheer weight of a duramax up front, I can imagine those KO2 were not long for this world! I'm no tire expert, but it seems to me a transforce AT or other commercial level tire would be the only way to see a real improvement in durability.

The G015s don't seem to be that different from my Geolander AT-S ties and I've had them in all manner of surface except deep mud or snow. I've studiously avoided plowing around in deep crud with my Suburban. And the AT-S are also rated as all-season with snow included, but don't specifically make any marketign callouts about snow performance. Maybe I'll get up the Grapevine after this next of batch of rainstorms and play in the snow.

I've been seriously considering the G015. They seem to handle adequately based on a few tests that I've seen people run on them.

for any value it holds....

i've ran geolander at/s in 37x12.5x18, in D ply but w/ a load index if 123 I think it was.... my rig is a f250 powerstroke, and it was simply too much rig for those tires. they were sloppy in corners allowing a lot of wallow. however, they gave superior mileage compared to anything else I've ran. they were whisper quiet, and they wore like iron. I gave up trying to run the tread off and sold them.

i've ran STT Pro's in 37x12.5x20's- and if i had to choose one model and make of tire for the rest of my life (and that truck), that would be the one. i wore off about 1/4 of the tread in 25k miles or so, but scalloped them badly when running out of balance front tires- didn't take long, either... less than 1k miles... they are super tough both tread and sidewall, easy to balance (except for the fact my rims require stick on weights that deep mud relieved me of- hence the out of balance) and weren't too terribly loud. but, alas- to thine own self be true- I don't spend enough time off-road to rate replacing them.... by the way, i moved the front to the back and the scallops smoothed right out... damn good tire.

i now run procomp AT sports- taking a bit of a gamble because i wanted a true AT tire in E ply 128 load index- and i couldn't be happier, surprisingly. they are quiet, are wearing well, and have done exceptionally well in the off-road i've had them on. my mileage increased from a total range per fill of 1400 (STT Pro's the worst) to about 1650~1700 (ProComp AT Sport) which is still down from the geolanders @ 1800ish miles per fill. now, they didn't like the wet snow- had to go 4wd to grip sufficiently, but still better than the geo's, better than nitto tg1's, nowhere near as good as the STT Pro's (which were 'sposed to be horrible in snow)... overall, it is a fine selection you may should consider- it is made by Cooper now (along with at least 80% of ALL off-road tires). the carcass is solid, the sidewall plenty tough, and as I said they wear and roll right.

anyway, my .02...

LOVE my Yokohamas. Not the sexiest tire out there, but reliable as a hammer in every condition I've put it through.

Hi Jake, what size tires are you running? E rated ? how is your gas mileage compared to your old tires with the G015?

Nice review! The D load range along with tall sidewalls would contribute to the wallow... and the good MPG.

Ya know I'm not sure, probably the E version, it's an LT, not P rated. 265/75/16 & definitely lost 1mpg maybe 2. My truck is a frontier so my mileage kinda sucked to begin with. I've had Falken Bridgestone firestone bfg pathfinder etc but I'm a Yokohama guy these days. The at/s is just the perfect combo--It's a quiet 5 rib highway Tire on a daily basis in SETX, but it's absolutely super glue on snow & ice in Colorado plus has plenty of depth in the tread to carry a fully loaded midsize thru sand & mud down in Galveston. The G015 is supposed to be even better with the new rubber compound.

The geos we had on the Sequoia were not great. Its a heavy SUV hard on tires they wore out pretty quick and I had two leaky tires after an easy dirt road trip. I think they are decent light cuv type tires but I wasnt impressed with them on the heavy Sequoia. I have 40k now on the BFG Rugged Terrains which are beefier and have been trouble free. They have another 15-18k of safe tread left.
