Your basic newbie Rubicon question

I currently own a 2012 JKUR.

I have previous to this one, overbuilt every offroad vehicle I have ever owned. making them bloated and heavy gas hogs. This time, I have tried to do it differently.

So, 3" lift, 35" aggressive ATs (keeps the road noise down), all aluminum skids, winch with aftermarket bumpers, some lights, that's about it.

It takes me everywhere I want to go.

BTW, I use CO2, not a portable pump or onboard air. The CO2 system is simple, very reliable and very fast.

As far as going alone, its your call, but at least be prepared with communications equipment and be truly self sufficient if anything happens. Not trying to be pedantic, just had a really close call a few years ago.

Buy a new Rubi with all the warranties, run the crap out of it, and figure out for yourself if you need anything. The stock Rubi will amaze you. I ran mine through the demo pit at the Expo in Flagstaff and it was kinda like driving it through the parking lot at the mall. Just had it out on some muddy, disused mountain trails north of Taos and my buddy exclaimed that he's going home, selling his 4x4 F250 diesel and buying a Rubi.

If you specifically want to rock crawl, sure, go nuts, but if you're overlanding and camping, the stock version will do just about everything you can throw at it - and still fit into the garage.
