ZMagic97's Trailer Build Thread

Well, after a few years on being on and off the trailer idea and finally finding one at a price I was willing to pay, I got a trailer to build up. I was hoping to get an M416 or similar, but in my area any I find are in the $2,000 range which is way too high for me.

I got this trailer last week. It is a homemade one with a 4' x 8' box, and about 12' overall with the basket. It's easy to move and fairly light, it sits on 33's. Lately it's been getting hot and I'm busy, so it sat until tonight when I pulled it out of the back yard and pushed it in the garage for a little work.

Here it is as-bought. It did have tail light lenses but the bulbs were bad so the covers are off:

I got it Sunday morning, and Monday evening I got two, 30" max lift scissor jacks to bolt onto the bottom. The set was just under $90 from e-trailer.

Here are the jack pre-fitted underneath. This was the best place I could see putting them for strength, stability, and being out of the way when both racked up and put down. I didn't want to hit my shins on them.

I also took off the rack since my RTT will be mounted on here to keep the top weight off my JK and so if I take my dog he can be lifted into the tent.

Sorry for the not-so-great nighttime photos: I got started at dark, but want to keep photos of my progress.

I do not plan on making this a very fancy trailer by any means, but rather a trailer I can pull behind my JK or my 2WD Silverado depending on the trip and area. I will update this as I go along. Thanks for looking!

Update: I was building this for my JK but sold it and have a crew cab truck so I may be selling this if anyone is interested. If so, send me a PM. Thanks.
