ZMBSLYR - My '89 Suburban Expo/BOV

It's amazing how you can join a forum with members spread across the world only to find someone selling what your looking for only 5 miles from your house. This is the Suburban I picked up from metapoint last Friday.

SPECS:
1989 Chevy V2500 Suburban Silverado w/ 4" lift
350 TBI, TH400/NP241, 4:10 gears
37" Wrangler MT/Rs on Western Turbine wheels (16.5)

The truck's in good shape, so for now I'm planning to drive it as is and see what mods I want to make.


That being said, one thing I know I am going to look at is steps, because no one else in my family can get in (and watching me do it is, apparently, pretty amusing.)

NP 241 came stock, was the 208 swapped in? I love the wheels are they 16.5 or 16s?

No, I was going off what was apparently mis-information on Wikipedia. Thx for the heads up.

As I understand it the truck is stock.

There should be tag on the back of the transfercase.

I don't think it is standard. The locker it called a Gov-lock and is not that strong when compared to other lockers, my rear is the Simi-floating, someday I will upgrade to a Full-floating rear with ARB locker.

I with you could get the Western Turbine wheels in 16s

Yeah I know the 16s are much cheaper and easier to get tires for, but I like the wheels enough to deal with the 16.5 size.

Nice looking rig. Same guts as mine (I have an 89 as well). That is definitely the 241 transfer case, which is a good one. You can't twin stick it like a 205, and it doesn't have the strength of the gear driven ones, but it is PLENTY powerful behind a 350, and has a nice low range (2.72, if my memory serves).
