M101A2 Trailer Purchase & Project

Axle is in, will try to pick it up tomorrow along with some 6" LED's, wiring, Bulldog rotating jack and the 2" adjustable hitch. Should have a roller asap.

Also picked up a few goodies from Steel Soldiers and the FJ Cruiser forums...

Jerry can powder coated black and the two black mounts you see under the black plastic cans in the last picture, with straps. I'll buy another and coat it to match and mount them on the sides of the trailer.

Then I bought these little jewels, 2 mounts and 4 .50 cal cans. I'm thinking about mounting them on the tire wells inside of the trailer. Each can is supposedly 5 1/2" by 11" so two would be 11x22 plus a small amount for the rack/mount. If they don't fit on top of the fender well then I'll certainly find a place for them. Going to clean them up and give them a coat of black. Will be good for water proof storage for all kinds of things.

These are file photos of 5.56mm cans but are visually the same.

Should have some good updates over the next several days.

Other than the frame? No. My time is so limited right now, I'm doing good to spend 3 hours a week on it.

Picked up the axle, 2" Bulldog adjustable hitch, 6" oval LED's, wiring and jack last night. Will install tonight and updated accordingly.

Made great strides tonight. Mounted the axle, wheel spacers, wheels/tires and shocks. Cut holes for 6" LED's in rear C channel, welded up the front hitch channel and Bulldog jack and did some touchup painting. Need to run wiring and the frame is finished. Next up is the bed.

Here's a few pics:

Cut off the lower shock mounts from the military axle, actually they are just barely welded on front and rear. We decided not to weld on the new axle as it really doesn't matter, more for locating during assembly than anything. Mounted up the axle.

The AllPro spacer/adapters are almost too nice to hide, bolted them on and coated everything that needed it.

Flipped it over, coated what I missed and bolted up the FJ wheels and tires. The fit was perfect.

Now she rolls...

My modified shocks bolted right on.

Helps to have friends who are world class welders. Cutting the holes for the LED's.

a little fine cutting here and there and poof...taillights.

Welded up the hitch channel and the bulldog jack mount. I didn't bolt up either as I had to get some coating and paint on the front first.

So basically I now have a rolling frame. Next is wiring, bolt on missing pieces and chains, helicopter lift rings, etc. I figure a couple more evenings once the bed is cleaned and undercoated, get the bed mounted and I'll see about painting the sides and lining the bed. Once that's finished I'll deal with fuel cans, and other various addons.

Looks awesome with the FJ wheels on it. You'll have a nice trailer when it's all said and done.
