Lift options for my JKU

Did you notice a drop in power when you went up to the 35s? What gears and transmission are you running? I'm still running the stock suspension and tires on my 2014 Rubicon JKU but I'm about to pull the trigger on a 3" suspension system from TeraFlex and 35" Goodyear MT/Rs. I just don't know if I need to re-gear from the stock 3.73 and/or add something like a cold air intake for a few more HPs to make up for turning a larger tire.

You will see a drop. Especially if you have an automatic. I had 321 gearing with my 33s and a manual and could never use 6th gear. I actually geared to 456 2 weeks before I got the 35s and man oh man I love it. First is a little to short but that is my only complaint. I would say if you had 410s you would be good but 373 will be noticeable. I have front and rear bumper aftermarket as well. I didn't know what I was missing until I regeared. Now I wondered why I didn't do it in the first place. Good luck with your decision.

If you are planning on adding a winch bumper, winch, roof rack, and the typical "overlanding" gear like drawers, fridge, etc. then I recommend getting the ARB Old Man Emu 2.5" lift with the heavy weight springs. I originally started out with the 2.5" Teraflex lift but ended up junking it after a serious amount of sag under "build weight".

Teraflex recently came out with a 3" "Australian Outback" oriented lift to compete against the ARB/OME kit that you might consider if you don't go with the ARB/OME.

I'll have to check that one out. Thank you. Bumpers and winch are definitely coming in the future but I'm not sure about a roof rack, fridge etc. but you never know!

First of all--I'm going to check out the Australian Outback kit just in case I get a jeep to replace my RRSC. I REALLY like the OME 2.5 inch kit--and I like the Teraflex kits I have installed in the past. But, on both of my kid's JKs (one JKU and one JK), a buddy and I put the Teraflex performance leveling kit on and run 33 inch tires. The kit is easy to install and gives a nice stance--you can even use the stock shocks. Install time in the driveway was about 2 hours (including a beer break). The front goes up 2.5 inches and the back goes up an inch.

I also need to take in the fact that in time I'll be getting a rear bumper and front bumper with a winch. I'm afraid these will weigh it down if I get the TF leveling kit and not something with a little more height.

I have the Rock Krawler 1.5 lift with a winch and bumper on the front.

If you are looking for a small lift there ia also TJM. They aslo have a 1.5. Their coils have a higher spring rate then the Teraflex.

Does TJM have a website? I have seen their products in a catalog I have here but I have not heard a lot about them.

Best prices I found were through Northridge4x4. They are on most of the popular Jeep forums. They hooked me up when I was doing the same thing. Great service and shipped next day for free. I was between Rock Krawler 2.5" stock mod and the Teraflex 2.5" spring lift. Went Teraflex due to availability and better price. Have heard nothing but great things on both kits.

Ok guys so I've made up my mind after doing my homework. I'm going with OME 2.5" HD springs and ProComp ES9000 shocks. I couldn't swing OME or Bilstein shocks and got a great deal on the setup I decided with. Really happy I'm going this route especially with the HD springs as I plan on adding on bumpers, winch, etc. down the road.

If you install the OME springs be prepared for much more altitude than advertised unless you're running heavy. Won't be as bad after adding your bumpers and winch.
You're going to need more parts to make it work right now.

I would watch the pro comp shocks. They are super stiff. They do not valve for each vehicle, so they are the same internally for 2500 series trucks etc. I had them on my suburban and they rode stiff in there, then rusted out in one year. I would swing for the OME shocks.

I really would have liked to get the OME shocks but they were out of my budget. I know the ProComps aren't top of the line but they'll be good for now and I do plan on upgrading them to OME or Bilstein down the road.

I would go with Monroe reflex with spacers before the pro comps. They do not last and they ride like bricks.

ProComp twin-tubes used to be made by Monroe... ...probably still are.
Monroe also makes OME.
They make lots of the shocks that are re-branded. They're all made to the customers' specs though.
So if you can get a good Monroe for less than an OME, get it. The ProComps aren't the same quality.
