Timing belt kit for 95 Montero SR

Hey ya'll. I tried the search function, but unfortunately couldn't find much.
Last week I picked up a very clean 95 SR with 130k on the odo.

Does anyone know of a good, complete t-belt kit for a 95 SR 3.5 DOHC? I saw a couple kits online that come with a water pump, tensioner, and seals, and the only gates kit seems to come with only a belt and some pulleys. What do you guys recommend? Should I head over to the dealer and go oem for everything?

I used to be a lexus tech and i could always find aftermarket kits made by the same manufacturers for like $200.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Complete kit should contain: Water Pump, Timing Belt, Hydraulic Timing Belt Actuator, Camshaft Belt Tensioner, Camshaft Belt Idler, 4 Camshaft Seals, Crankshaft Seal

OEM belt is Gates, anything with a bearing is Koyo. Water Pump most likely Aisin.

I'd also add a new Crankshaft Bolt and Washer.

FSM and ASA (mitsubishi parts catalog) are available at www.mitsubishilinks.com

I'm Getting Around To It
plh is correct, but I'll add one thing: Buy, spend, do not mess around, GET an OEM/ Mitsubishi Genuine timing belt tensioner. Believe me.

I use beck arnley parts. They are specifically for Japanese and other imported cars. They have the full timing belt kit. Worth the money. In certain parts you can get them and they will have the Mitsubishi symbol on them (OEM parts)

Not to thread jack and hopefully this can help the OP as well too but I was looking for similar parts as I just picked up a '99 and I was looking at this kit:

http://www.amazon.com/Aisin-TKM-005...m=1999:mitsubishi:montero&keywords=water+pump

or this:

http://www.amazon.com/Beck-Arnley-0...99:mitsubishi:montero&keywords=water+pump+kit

Does anyone have experience with these kits or ones from other websites that sell the same thing (eBay or others)? Also where would you all recommend getting the new crankshaft bolt and washer? Thanks and hopefully this can help others too!

Edit: I've been looking at this too: http://www.amazon.com/Gates-TCKWP28...99:mitsubishi:montero&keywords=water+pump+kit

Crankshaft bolt and washer are from the dealer only. If you are not close to a brick and mortar, I've had good luck on-line ordering from Southwest Mitsubishi. But plan on 10 days for delivery - they always seam slow to ship for me. YMMV.

Thank you guys so much. I just ordered the beck arnley kit. Will be headed to the dealer for the rest(drive belts, thermostat, crank pulley and bolt.) is there anything else I'm missing? I was also going to replace the upper and lower radiator hoses and heater hoses as well. My valve covers aren't leaking and the valve seals don't leak. What do you guys think?

I personally have never had luck with ANYTHING Beck/Arnley. In fact its a bad word in my family.

Most notably was a clutch kit that completely shredded. Ive been around cars enough to know I did everything perfect and when sent back to the company, they reported "poor rivets"
Also, their spark plug cables I bought were crap.

Keep in mind this is just one persons experience and its possible I just have crap luck but for me there are enough other parts companies that I dont stress about it.

I HIGHLY recommend you do NOT install the beck/arnley timing kit. This kit will possibly ruin your motor. To many people have had failed tensioners do to crap they get from aftermarket manufacturers. It's not a matter of IF it fails, it's WHEN. It will fail. Mitsu sells the tensioner for around $150, that's cheap insurance compared to a new motor. I say this from experience. I cheaped out when doing my timing and it nearly cost me a motor. Not to mention it may have left me stranded in a very remote area over a 1000 miles from home had I not caught it 2 days before leaving. Think about it.

Alright guys, I already put in my order for the beck/arnley kit but upon further consideration I'm probably just gonna head over to the Mitsubishi dealer on Monday and dish out the extra cash for all oem. Thanks again everyone. The engine in this car runs great and I just don't want to risk damaging it

Is the t-belt kit pretty straightforward on the 3.5 DOHC? I used to be a lexus technician and I've done probably almost a thousand t belt installs, but are there any special considerations with this engine? Can't be harder than a lexus 4.7 v8 right?

I know nothing about lexus v8. The DOHC is not as complicated as some make it out to be. I feel it's pretty straight forward. The only complicated part is the tensioner and that's not even that bad. Just beware of the A/C compressor bracket, that thing will fight you.

Is it just the tensioner that screwed you? Or the whole kit
