SMB refresh is done, just need to put some miles on it and bolt the steps back up. 06 E350 6.0 with under 80k on the clock, new Ford reman engine, SMB spec Fox 2.0s, stripped and re coated the bumpers, painted the high top rockers and flares, cleaned and painted the frame. This van belongs to a local dealer, he'll have it on the lot soon and I'll post a link. I love the unique color and the new 2 tone. Looks great, something different.

When you buy a Ford re-man 6.0 engine, what is the warranty?

Hopefully, they have fixed all the dumb @$)%# they did the first time they built it. Good friend of mine had one and sold it with 25K miles because he couldn't keep it out of the shop. (8-9 years ago)

I believe its a 2yr warranty.

Went trolling back for this one on alphavan
intercooled 4-500hp 7.3

The anticipation is killing me. How feasible is the intercooler on the 7.3 in a van? I'm thinking the CA smog hurdle might be a problem for me but if that is not an obstacle I want to sent my big blue monster back for that upgrade.

Its not a simple bolt on deal, we're making some changes to gain some room. Swapping the engine to a dual alternator setup and eliminating the upper alternator to gain some room, also having a 6.0 intercooler/radiator made with the correct inlet/outlet for water and we'll make tubes once all of that is mocked up.

Should have the engine trans & t-case in the chassis today!

We measured,11'2" if I remember correctly. Don't know the mileage.

I was jokin' Chris! If you noticed I said gallons per mile, not miles per gallon. I just sold a 460 van so I know the, ahem, economy all too well. Not that it would stop me from buying another one if the price was right. If I found a Bigfoot set up like that with a 460 I'd grab it in a heartbeat! :)

Shows how much I actually read..... !!!!!

There's another Bigfoot for sale in Canada.

And finally! 7.3 by Swamps (435hp) 4R100 by Brians Truck Shop and the NV271 are in the AlphaVan chassis. Fuel tank tomorrow and we'll start plumbing & wiring. Super excited for this step of the build.

It was great to see them so happy to take their rig home today.
And Alpha Van... I wish I would be around to hear that startup... and rolling! So bad ***.

Chris, any thoughts on swapping an Eco Boost V6 in place of a 5.4? They seem to be decent motors, just very under powered or maybe under- tuned, if that is a word.

A stock 3.5L V6 Eco Boost makes 365 HP and 420 TQ, with good area under curve due to the turbos. A stock 5.4 Triton makes 235 HP and 335 TQ (up to 2010) and then 310 HP and 365 TQ from 2010 on due to a new head design IIRC.

As I am sure you are aware, very basic bolt on components for the Eco Boost will yield appreciable gains. (Full Race Stage One Package)

Final Result of Test 1 (add Tune only): 421WTQ and 347WHP Gains: +125wtq/+70whp @3000rpm and +75wtq/+60whp @4000rpm

Using a 17% driveline loss for a 4WD truck, that gives you about 420 HP and 500 foot pounds of torque. I would not expect diesel MPG, but gas is cheaper than diesel in many places. The 7.3's whilst loved dearly by many are 15+ years old now. In that time, massive improvements have been made in turbo gasoline engine tech by the OEM's. Just a thought in a case where a customer may be considering a majour overhaul or a diesel rebuild (7.3 or 6.0 fix)
