So what in the heck did all those billions of our tax dollars do for Chrysler?

Horrifically amazing.

Jeep as a whole will probably be bought by some foreign entity; think capital investment group from the Middle East.

Hopefully the purity of the brand will be preserved with whomever winds up owning Jeep.

Looking at what Tata has done to Land Rover makes me fear for the Jeep name plate.

Think we will get our money back?

The money went to designing and deploying a new Cherokee, and paying out Executive bonuses.

I love Jeep, but Chrysler and GM are screwed. A couple of big oinkers as far as I'm concerned.

If anyone has a JK, you better hold onto it and take care of it, you could be in possesion of a piece of history.....the last Wrangler ever made, from WWII Willys to the JK, the Wrangler may stop here.

Tata has not done anything with Land Rover, yet. Everything that the company is today (for better or for worse) developed under Ford's oversight since 2000.

The most that could be said about Tata's guidance is that so far, they have failed to reverse any of the changes that occurred in the Ford years.

What the article at Edmunds.com says is that Chrysler LLC is looking at all options, including sales of Jeep and Dodge truck, to recover cash. Jeep never did fit with Chrysler, anyway. It's not clear how it would fit in the new Chrysler/Fiat company either.

A purchase by another company would not necessarily be a bad thing. Mahindra and Mahindra wanted to buy Land Rover, so maybe they would be interested. A Wrangler with a Mahindra diesel under the hood sounds good to me!

The big problem for anyone purchasing Jeep would be signing up dealers. Lots of current Jeep dealers will fold, and others will remain with the new Chrysler/Fiat company.

Jeep is an iconic name, recognizable all over the world. Some company will buy it.

maybe tata should buy jeep and use the wrangler as their new defender to pass upcoming crash tests or we should all buy defenders as a sign to the current owners to " save the tata's"

What has Tata done to Land Rover? You might disagree what Ford did to the Discovery/LR 3, but what Ford has done to the Defender is SUPERB; a good diesel engine out of a transporter (the Ford Transit), new gearbox from ZF and increased reliability and quality.

I am not afraid for the Jeep brand; it might be one of the best assets Chrysler has. Jeep also complements the product line of Fiat very nicely. In case Jeep is getting sold, am am sure some company will pick it up.

If all fails, I am anyhow planning on babying my Rubi for many, many years...
