My quest to acquire a proper Mitsubishi Delica in the USA.

I got passed by a BC L300 Delica last year who must have been doing at least 70mph uphill on the highway. He was billowing smoke, and his Delica sounded like it was screaming for help. Most Delicas in the PNW seem to be driven 50-60mph in 70mph zones. Also, just wanted to reinforce what Haf-E...

WARNING! “US Legal” JDM 70/80 series Land Cruisers and Hiace/Delica vans (Craigslist)

No problem, as this thread is almost entirely off subject. That gave me the idea to read through this again and find the important points: Post 1 (ABC) - "If you only read one thing: Check the VIN on JDM expedition vehicles!" Post 10 (AtlantaViking) - "Basically, you might be able to get a title...

WARNING! “US Legal” JDM 70/80 series Land Cruisers and Hiace/Delica vans (Craigslist)

I never meant for this Craigslist 4x4 warning to turn into a dealer exposé, JDM lesson, and my poor judgement thread rolled into one. I have been intentionally vague in describing my own personal case until this can be resolved. US CBP checks the VIN against the paperwork at the border, and...

WARNING! “US Legal” JDM 70/80 series Land Cruisers and Hiace/Delica vans (Craigslist)

Seatbelts??? Karim told me that the age wasn’t written anywhere on the van. Please don’t engage him. He is so determined to find out who I am, yet makes no effort to explain the age discrepancies. This is what I feared would happen if I made a warning to check Karim's VINs before he is...

WARNING! “US Legal” JDM 70/80 series Land Cruisers and Hiace/Delica vans (Craigslist)

I apologize to everyone for dragging the non-ExPo ads section into this mess. This was just meant to be a warning to check the VIN on all the listings in the original post. Due to my role in investigations that will severly impact Karim's ability to do business, I genuinely fear for the safety...

WARNING! “US Legal” JDM 70/80 series Land Cruisers and Hiace/Delica vans (Craigslist)

Submitting four posts at once so that my reply is bumped to page 3 is not what people on ExPo do. The PM silkroadautos (Karim Quarishi) sent has a completely different story than what he wrote on page 2. I’m not going to get into mudslinging, as anyone can search YouTube, check the VINs, or PM...

    CL - 1974 Volvo C303 = Clean Solid Driver - $18995 (long beach)

"Located in the USA..." "I can help with export to the States. I have done it before.... If you want to fly to Montreal I can pick you up." Why are so many imports sold by shady people?

WARNING! “US Legal” JDM 70/80 series Land Cruisers and Hiace/Delica vans (Craigslist)

The dealer has never explained to my why the first registration date is inaccurate on my copy of the Japanese export certificate. Unfortunately, it looks like I will only figure out how this happened when CBSA and US CBP finish their investigations. Feel free to contact Karim Quarishi at Silk...

WARNING! “US Legal” JDM 70/80 series Land Cruisers and Hiace/Delica vans (Craigslist)

I worked with the guy for over two months to find my van. I made sure I got the VIN before purchasing, but could not find a single source to check it. As Silk Road Autos is such a large importer, it seemed plausible that the reason for the delay in getting my VIN was just how understaffed they...

1991 Delica “Star Wagon" $9k Japanese Classics

IMPORTANT! Manufacture date 1991.06.1 P24W-0100508 I contacted the guy in the auto industry who discovered my problem and he said the VIN database was not working. He also informed me that P24W is the VIN code for gas low roof. JDM is way too complex, and this is why I am avoiding it going...

1991 Delica “Star Wagon" $9k Japanese Classics

I now agree with you 100%! The Delica is so poorly engineered, you should take a look underneath. The path the exhaust takes is crazy... it changes direction at least 7 times! It also would be so much better if it was body on frame. Plus, no US Spec Subaru has ever been crushed by customs...

1991 Delica “Star Wagon" $9k Japanese Classics

Thanks for asking! P24W-0100508 "No exact frame number found" (JDM Delica VINs only start with P25W for low roof, and P35W for high roof) P25W-0100508 "No exact frame number found" Buyer Beware!

Run your VIN ASAP if you own a Delica in the US!

Just a quick update: The dealer is Silk Road Autos in Surrey, BC. I posted a warning about their ads on the Craigslist section that pretty much describes what happened...

1991 Delica “Star Wagon" $9k Japanese Classics

While all Delicas are cool, this one needs to be a diesel to be uber-cool! :) "2.4L 4G64" The 'G' in 4G64 stands for gas. I think everyone on ExPo would dislike trying to find parts or fuel for this van on a trip outside of the US! Even though the listing states the engine, I now know that...

1991 Delica “Star Wagon" $9k Japanese Classics

I just noticed one thing this van has in common with my illegally imported Delica... NO ALTIMETER! The altimeter is the easiest way to tell the true age on the Delica, as vans built before August 1991 should not have a temperature gauge (however, models below the Exceed trim level never got...
