    e-books and e-readers: post here

My wife got me a Kindle for Christmas (the small one) and I love it. I was a bit skeptical the first time I saw one around a campfire but everyone that had one spoke so highly of it that I decided I'd like to have one. The reading experience is better than I thought it would be. After reading...

    Hook, shackle or thimble

Having used hooks in the past I now use the Viking thimble and a shackle. I like it because it forces me to use a shackle. I recently spent a week wheeling in the snow, with a bunch of other rigs, which involved a lot of winching. The Crosby hook and the hooks with a safety catch were a bear to...

    netbooks

Things are looking up. But I notice no mention of tablets above. What I really want is a 10" tablet with a screen resolution a bit better than 1024x600. For mounting in my JK Wrangler and for use with Overland Navigator I just want the keyboard out of the way (but I want a keyboard available for...

    I need tires - MTR's or KM2's - where should I get them?

NWoods, I'm in Grand Junction, CO so Moab is 96 miles from the house. Those of us who play in the Western Slope of Colorado or in Utah spend a lot of time in the rocks. Before I upgraded to 37's I ran my siped 35's for about 8000 miles (and about 3000 unsiped beforehand) and had no chuncking...

    Spark plug replacement air compressor

The compression of the engine powered the pump but it sucked outside air so there was no air fuel mix being pumped. I carried one - but can you say slow! They were best for airing up motorcycle tires and then you had the thought that a hand pump might be faster.

Modified PowerPlant for onboard air and inside controls

I've been thinking of doing that. Did you use a set of instructions that you found workable? If so would you mind pointing them out? What happened to the locking indicator lights on the dash - are they dead or are they still functional?

Modified PowerPlant for onboard air and inside controls

Very ingenius. I like it. I assume you rewired your lockers so that they operate indepedently of the transfer case being in low?

swing out tire carrier ideas please

I have a RockHard rear bumper on my JK and I built a custom tire carrier that carries two gas cans as low as is practical. It is also set up to carry a PullPal, 60" High Lift and shovel. If you'd like I'll try to take a few pics of it to post.

    I need tires - MTR's or KM2's - where should I get them?

I just went from 35" KM2's to 37" KM2's on my 4 dr JK. The LWB JK just needs more rubber. At any rate the 35's KM2's were a very good tire except in packed snow an ice. I had Discount Tire sipe them and that made a huge difference. For the 37's I decided that I'd sipe them before I even mounted...

    Quick Air Bolt in Tank

This looks like a great unit. I talked to them about getting one for my JK a few months back and at that time all they had kits for was diesel pickups. It looks to be a better setup tan the York that Kilby and ORO use though. I wish Extreme Outback would expand thier range of kits. I have been...

    Quick Air Bolt in Tank

I think the PP and single cyl Warn are about 4 and the twin cyl is 8 or 9 cfm at 90 psi. If you look at the app charts you can see the small ones are all for pickups, mostly diesel, and the large one is for medium duty trucks. From my perspective, given that my Warn PP airs one of my 35's from...

    Quick Air Bolt in Tank

Yeah but dig into their website and the 70 version weighs 180 pounds and the 140 weighs 220 pounds! I didn't see anything on cost but I'm betting it is in the 2500 to 3500 range. The compressor in the Warn PowerPlant does a good job and the two Warn stand alone compressors seem to be quite...

    The "Dual Saw"

I've seen enough injuries with SkilSaws that the Dual saw scares me. It looks like you have marginal control and a minimal base for stability. The contra-rotating blades seem awefully gimmicky to me. The blade guard has MINIMAL coverage and is cheap clear plastic. I'd avoid it this POS like the...

    The "Dual Saw"

I've never heard of this before. Have you seen it done?

    Wheels JK

AEV Pintlers are hub-centric. I've got them and they are an excellent wheel.
