Nice! I can't believe I haven't seen this before. I may look into that. I have a Warn receiver shackle in the Jeep and a rubber cover on the hitch. It would be nice to have something to keep someone from bumping into the tire and damaging the tailgate...

Thanks for the info and picture. Nice work on the rack. I have an old 20x60 rack now. I can open the gate with it on but I have to unload it of course. I never thought about hacking it up....

Nick, Your Jeep looks good, love the color. Sorry this is OT but I'm curious about your hitch carrier?? I like the way it sit high up and close to the Jeep. Hoping for a trail rack some day but this is a little more flexible. Thanks.

If you make the upper shelf/cargo basket large enough and with a solid floor then dropping it to a low enough position might sort of work.

Good point about the weight on it. I guess if I removed the vertical panel it would lose some support. I put the cooler and a bunch of other stuff up there on trips. Maybe cutting it or trying to replicate the upper part would be a better idea.... Maybe I'll take some measurements this weekend...

I'll second that. I've had mine for a it 1.5 yrs. and I use it every night when I walk my dogs. I'm planning to get another.

That's great. I've been trying to decide between 285's and 315's to replace my almost worn out stock tires. The tire carrier for the 315 has been the one thing I couldn't decide on.

I hope that includes the tailgate reinforcement and HD spare mount!

That's an interesting idea. The freedom panels take up way too much space so I only remove them if the back is empty and I can lay them flat.
