    Gear selection for my setup

In my research I came across the formula for calculating rpm's at a given speed. I think this might be useful. I measured the true radius of my tires and did some calculations. I usually only drive @ 65mph on the highway. With the4.88's, I'd be pulling 2298 rpm and with the 5.13's 2415 rpm...

    Gear selection for my setup

I'm regearing my Jeep next week. It's a 2011 2-dr. Rubicon with 4.10 gears, 3.8L engine with the anemic automatic transmission. I was never even happy with the 4.10's on the stock tires, but now I'm running 33" (285/70r17) tires and towing an M416 Replica trailer that weighs around 1,000 lbs...

Trip Report: Mojave Road II: hardcore remote travel with many conveyances

I enjoyed your report. Really cool that those guys rode the fat tire bicycles. Can you comment on the conditions of Soda Lake, sand washes, and depth of the two water crossings down by Afton Canyon? And any problems areas that a solo vehicle might be best to avoid? I'm headed out there soon...

Thanks for sharing the info. I made a note of it in case I ever need to replace a shock.

Can I add a parking brake without adding brakes?

I kind of, sort of follow you. I was thinking over lunch and wondering why I couldn't do the set up for brakes, but then not bother with the electric part of the system...have the brakes there, but then just a cable system for the emergency hand brake. And then if I ever wanted to add full-on...

Can I add a parking brake without adding brakes?

Thanks for the input. The M416 axle is something I didn't think of, but since the trailer is new, probably don't want to change the axle at this point. We have good wheel chocks, and the trailer has stabilizer jacks. The issue is not when it's parked, it's when we want to push the trailer...

Can I add a parking brake without adding brakes?

My off-road trailer has worked great without brakes, however, it would be nice to have a parking brake. Is it possible to add a parking brake without adding brakes? My guess is no, but I figured you guys would know. We are leery of pushing the trailer around on too much of a slope, because we...

question regarding mounting RTT on trailer top

I'd use a rack, unless you live in a really dry place. I would think moisture could be an issue if you directly mount it. I went with a Rhino rack on my trailer. As someone else suggested, get three load bars, not two, especially if you plan on going off road. I opted for only two load bars...

what happened to Sierra4x4 trailer tread.

Your trailer looks great. Actually, I already saw it in person, but didn't realize it. It was sitting right next to mine when I picked mine up.

    CRF250L

There's been a lot of talk about this bike on ADV. I stopped in a shop while I was traveling over the weekend and got to see one in person. I was kind of skeptical before I saw it, because I had a CRF230L, and I think Honda totally dropped the ball on that one. Well I have to say that I was...

    Sierra4x4trailers

I thought I had posted pictures of my trailer in this thread, but I don't see them, so here are a couple. I've only had it for a month, but have been on two trips now. The first trip was all on pavement. I finally got it off the beaten path for the first time this weekend. It performed great.

what happened to Sierra4x4 trailer tread.

I only have a couple of things to add after reading this thread: 1. I picked up my trailer from Chris on August 8, and I don't think he moved since then. There were no signs of moving that I could see, and no mention of it. 2. To the guy that was looking for a Hannibal distributor...Chris...
