I haven't relocated my rear mounts yet. I don't do a whole lot of rock crawling in the Astro, so i'm not too worried about hitting the shock mounts. From what i've seen it looks like a fairly easy mod though.
Pretty sure i've got those Rancho shocks on my DIY lifted astro, almost all the same parts as yours. They've been great the two years i've had em on my rig.
Hey, thanks. My pop-top astro has been great. Since i've owned it, it's taken me 60k+ miles across the country countless times without any issues (although I do preventative maintenance on it when i'm home).
The reason why i'm interested in something like a 4x4 astro provan is because this one...
I should try to sell my pop-top astro, and pick this up. I do happen to have a photoshoot in LA at the end on March... I could fly out and drive it back... hmmm. *puts on thinking cap.
Hmm, your images aren't loading for me. Miiiight be my browser. I'm super interested in the bed mount. Seems way sturdier than my piano hinge build right now.
Thanks. Vanny is still kicking. I haven't done many upgrades since the latest buildout, except for some maintenance. I've replaced the radiator, water pump, and encoder motor for the awd transfer case. I plan on eventually installing a selectable transfer case out of a s10/blazer, but it's been...
I own a 2004 lifted Astro with a pop-top. It's a dog in the mountains. It's got 3.42 gears on roughly 30in BFG AT KO2 tires. I've considered regearing, or going to lighter tires. If I were to do it again, i'd go the AWD express with a v8 in a heartbeat.
Those white rails were a part of the pop-top itself... which made the whole install process super easy.
Here's a photo of the top (upside-down) before I installed it. You can see that the "white rails" are actually a part of the whole bottom assembly that attached to the van. basically I cut a...
Thanks man. I'll try to snap some photos of the seats here. They're held together with piano hinges. Right now i'm just using some velcro to keep the boards from sliding forward in bench mode. I just got back from a 2000 mile trip and it worked flawlessly.
My water system is pretty basic...
Finished the interior... well mostly. There's still a few little things that need to get done, but it's 99% complete. Here's some photos of the interior.
Bench mode. I went with a westfalia inspired interior.
The drawer under the bench pulls out to support the panels in bed mode.
