    Early style compass reset

That's the right procedure, I wonder why it doesn't work. It's possible the antenna(?) isn't fully connected, I don't know. The button on the left of the display isn't present on later models and serves to calibrate the declination (as I recall) to give a correction to the compass for your...

OIL COOLER? Should there be one? Oil leak maybe from oil filter housing bolts - GEN1

Charlie, that's a good point, and I don't know. However, there are actual factory block offs for those two fittings, and those in the picture are not it. Looks like somebody found something that fits, however. All of the early V-6 models used the same oil filter housing with the fittings for the...

Stock adjustable shock replacement on gen 2.5 on the cheap!

Not that I doubt that these aren't the KYB adjustables that came with these trucks, but I'm suspicious. KYB hasn't made them or offered rebuilds for a long time. I'd really want a picture of the top of the shock where they mate up to the actuators (of the new shocks, that is). John B.

Gen 3 - KYB G-A-J vs Bilstein 4600 with stock coils

On a Gen 1, at least, the price difference is at least triple the KYB Gas-A-Just to go with Bilstein 4600. $329.16 Bilstein, $103.16 KYB G-A-J. Both prices less the ever-present 5% discount, plus shipping and tax. I suppose if I was actually going to use the Gen 1 for anything other than short...

    GEN1 Steering Gearbox Rebuild

I believe the year difference/change is in the diameter of the Pitman arm shaft. Gear box re-seal, not necessarily rebuild, kits are available through Rock Auto, if I'm not mistaken, but I can't offer any experience on tearing into one. John B.

Searching for a 3rd Gen Weekend Whomper

There's an '03 in west Phoenix on Craigslist for $4300 with a recent timing belt job, radiator and catalytic converter. Pictures looked good. John B.

    WTB 2.6 engine

Better testing (like a leak-down test) would tell if the bottom end of your existing engine is still good. Even still, putting new bearings in the lower end, rings if it needed them and then slapping a Clearwater head on, new balance shaft bearings and a timing/balance shaft chain set would...

    Cruise control ?‍♂️ wacky?? IDK.

Tailwind is my guess. It may have been getting on and off the throttle trying to maintain the speed. My 95 SR does something similar on downhill grades with the cruise on. John B.

Gen 2/95 SR Front Diff Mount Replacement Question

The bushings are not sold installed in the arms. I purchased them through Partsouq and there was no option for getting them that way, i.e., no dotted line around both parts with a separate part number. They will have to be pressed out/in. Speaking of which, Toasty, I'm inviting you to help me...

Anyone done Gen 2.5 rear wheel bearings?

Um, yeah, the axle has to come apart for either lug replacement or bearing replacement. I've never had to do it, but everyone else's experience I've read about makes it sound really bad. Loganshero's experience is probably the best way to do it - pressing the parts is no easy task. John B.

    Logan's gen 2 V8 desert runner build

I don't think I've ever seen a power steering pump break off like that (engine on right). How'd that happen? John B.
