How big a hit did you take on gas mileage and performance over stock ? Heavy *** tire.. Also balancing ? Do you still have them and are you still with them ?

I found mpg dropped markedly and so did performance when I had 31" BFG MT on my D2 compared with 29" std size Nokian WRG2. Was diameter change or weight that had biggest impact ? - given your comments above I'm thinking weight big factor. .. I now have LR3 HSE and got a set of used 18" rims...

Trimming the bumper is only part of the job I believe. What about inner wheel arch plastic etc. Any info/description for doing this and making it good ? Just looking to this but would like to understand all issues/what needs to be done ?.. thanks.

Wow.. free is always good. As an Iltis owner I would have been very keen to have picked that up and even happy to donate to your favourite cause. I have a reasonable collections of spares. Was it registered for the road ? Even if not I would have been very interested.

It is, but not actively pushing it. The iltis is quite unique and amazing design in many ways. Small fun tough and capable. I just bought a very clean 93 defender 90 tdi. Not sure I like it better than the iltis at this point. Was planning to run them both for a season and then sell one of...

back seat - 2 individual with fold down backs and lap belts. It is a compact truck though. In the front it is pretty good space wise. The seat slides a fair way back. More leg room than a Land Rover Series truck for sure.. Parts - a lot of VW parts from 80s Rabbit/golf so clutch no problem...

$11,500 CAN is around $8250 US now.. Vehicle is over 25 years old so should be able to import to most states (?)

What about Ram 1500 Ecodiesel.. nearly 30mpg. 3Ltr turbo diesel not short on power/torque at all. Big Cummins etc. seem unnecessary for most jobs.

May exchange for a very good Pinzgauer 710 M or K.
