How is the roof rack holding up to the spare tire and box. That is a lot of mass that moves around that high up. Has to be near 200lb. Mind sharing the settup? I was thinking of making a rack that mounts to the ambo box and hangs over the cab but am concerned about the weight of the spare...

I did something similar. After working out of regular vans I knew the wasted space and building issues of them. I decided to go with a 10' box van on the Chevy chassis. Ended up with a 12' one. I wish Chevy did the 12' box with the Express Extended wheelbase. That would be the perfect rig.

Any plans on using an adhesive on the beam to ply surface? Thinking for rigidity and noise deadening. I dont see why the same style fastener that you removed would not work, as long as it will sit flush even on the plywood. Thanks Ross
