BeefCake's build...a roll your own Earthroamerish family expo rig

Unfortunately the aluminum ones have dried up. I can get 11 inch wide steelies in but they are stupid expensive! Sent from my LGLS755 using Tapatalk

Wanted: Revcon Trailblazer, Xplorer Xcursion, Host F550 4x4 or similar Class C Motorhome

We are in the market for a used truck or van based motorhome. Ideally we are looking for a 99-03 7.3 diesel F550 4x4 based rig. However a good deal may drive me to a gas, a van, or even a 2wd. I have the ability to convert, and have done several engine swaps and four wheel drive conversions...

BeefCake's build...a roll your own Earthroamerish family expo rig

I just stumbled upon this thread. Nice work! By any chance did you get those wheels from Thin Line Offroad out of Michigan? If so that is me! Getting back into the overlanding game myself

Trip Ideas Needed Michigan to Texas for a 9 day trip.

Thanks! We might be bumping it up to two weeks. Unfortunately that's about all I can get. Looking for as much dirt road, ghost towns, etc. as possible.

Trip Ideas Needed Michigan to Texas for a 9 day trip.

Hey folks, Looking for some ideas, maybe a pre-mapped trail. We have 9 days in June where we would like to do a trip leaving the Detroit, Michigan area, ending up somewhere near San Antonio, Texas. We are really flexible as to where we go, and what to run. We would prefer staying mostly on...

Looking at an LX470 tomorrow - please discuss

Well I was mistaken, it is an '02, not an '03 so it is just before the update. I'm thinking this affects the price a bit, thoughts?

Looking at an LX470 tomorrow - please discuss

Thanks! I've been a mechanic and in the car business for 20 plus years so I'll be able to give it a good go through. Basically I was looking for opinions on price, and if there is some little thing specific to look out for on those rigs, kind of like the PHH on the 80 series, oil pan rust on the...

Looking at an LX470 tomorrow - please discuss

Lol thanks! She is my partner in wheeling, and in our offroad business. We used to have a triple locked LX450 and I didn't realize how much she loved it till it was gone. She did want better mpgs and a little more refinement so thus why the lust for the LX470. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Looking at an LX470 tomorrow - please discuss

The fiance's current DD is dying. Her dream vehicle is an LX470. I have been keeping an eye out for one for about a year, kind of looking for a higher mile one we can build. I am very familiar with the older solid axle rigs, and still rock a 60 myself however the newer stuff not so much. I...

Alaska and back via plane, bike, and a half million mile Dodge

Sorry for the big gaps between posts. We were on an awesome trip and took lots of pics but had no service. Starting where I left off, Brian checked out a copy of the Thumbprint News from Michigan while at the Alaska pipeline: Following our guide Brian we stopped many places to check out the...

Alaska and back via plane, bike, and a half million mile Dodge

On the 14th I spent my last day with the family for a month relaxing with them. I took the kids for a canoe ride down the river in front of our house. The weather was perfect. The next day Lucas and I started out at Detroit Metro airport. Right away the fun began when boarding was delayed...

AWD wagons: Help me make a decision

For what you describe, an AWD car "sounds" O.K., but in my opinion is kind of like taking a knife to a gun fight. The biggest problem you will have with the use of an AWD car off road is ground clearance. Also, cars rarely have a low range transfer case, and some like the Subaru can be very...

Alaska and back via plane, bike, and a half million mile Dodge

Adjusting to the time difference for myself and the kids has been more difficult than expected. I'm not trying to push it, knowing I just have to go back to Alaska time in less than two weeks. Being home has been relaxing for the most part. Katie is still at her conference, so it's just been me...
