    Hello from the UK

Hi Drew. Nice looking Disco. I have a 300Tdi RRC, with manual box. With 200,000 miles, it's still going well, but I have taken it off the road for a rebuild and the engine is going to Turner Engineering for a full rebuild and gas flowed head. They're brilliant engines. If you want to go...

    Yet another 109 build Thread

For what it's worth, my gear box blew its third gear a couple of months ago - it stripped two teeth off the main shaft gear wheel. It was a stock SIII box, and the combination of the Tdi, OD and 3.54s may have been too much for it. It was great for cruising the motorways, but not too good...

    Which electric radiator fan?

But usually only on vehicles with engine fits that preclude an electric fan. Engine driven fans will always be better in every respect than electric except for the ability to switch off an electric fan for wading. Your comment about efficiency is incorrect, too - electric fans are full on or...

    7" Round Replacement Headlights Compared

The first thing to do is use the brighter, bluer H4s. We have a car accessories chain called Halfords who stock their own brand bulbs, and their range of H4s include a bulb that supposedly produces 230% what a standard H4 produces. I have these in my 109 and they are very good. It'll be...

The Re-designed 2014 Range Rover Sport

It definitely resembles the Evoque. It's not bad looking, though not to my taste, but I don't like the bulge in the bonnet or the grilles. I prefer the look of the old RRS, which was quite a pretty car. My only beef with the outgoing RRS was that it was so much kore expensive than the D3 on...

    Frame paint?

For painting the chassis, POR15 is generally viewed even over here as the best product. Marine paints like those used for oil/gas rigs or ships should also be pretty effective. However, painting requires a lot of rust removal. A thorough steam clean followed by the correct spec Dinitrol on...

    Which electric radiator fan?

Fair enough. My experience has been different from yours - I've only had one fail, and it failed seized. I have heard of open failures, as I said, but a couple of cable ties around the hub and blade roots locks the two parts together for a temporary repair. Like you said, though, the viscous...

    Which electric radiator fan?

Ah, the same problem I had when I fit the Discovery 200Tdi in my 109 - the water pump is in a different place to that of the Defender version of the engine. I had to fit an electric fan for that reason too. Its diameter the full span of the radiator, but it can't do anything for the...

    Which electric radiator fan?

If I had a penny for every time I heard someone saying that Tdis don't need fans! I do realise in this case that it's merely a comment that when run temporarily without a fan, the engines coped, but on UK forums we see a lot of people recommending complete removal. It's incredible. The trip I...

    Say NO to Rock Auto.

I couldn't comment on Rock - I've never heard of them because it's a totally different bunch of vendors that most of you use (I think there are only a handful of Brits or other Europeans on here). I can understand his frustration at not having another part sent out immediately, but Rock's...

    Say NO to Rock Auto.

So, you jump down the throat of a guy who was possibly sold defective parts, preach all high and mighty, and then show your complete lack of knowledge on parts quality by advising a purchase of Britpart callipers. Britpart brake components are notoriously shoddy. A quick search of any UK LR...

    Which electric radiator fan?

Fit a genuine fan! I have a long record of being against electric fans (sounds like a broken record, really). I don't believe any of the performance and economy figures claimed by companies like Kenlowe - they measure energy consumption of an engine at high rpm with a fixed fan on a bench, ie...

    1972 Series III 88"

Being lft-hand drive, you'll have to do something with the steering to clear the turbo, like power steering, but a 200Tdi goes beautifully in a SIII. You'll also want to do something about gearing as it will be dreadfully under-geared for road use. 3.54 diffs work well on road, but it also...

The Rolling Restoration & Customization Of My 88' Range Rover Classic

Radius arms take thrust forces while the panhard rod takes the lateral force. I can't imagine a radius arm bending like that without serous forces as the panhard rod should have protected it from that lateral movement, even if it was made from toffee.

The Rolling Restoration & Customization Of My 88' Range Rover Classic

Mack's answer is one likely cause. Another is a fault in the vacuum servo system, with too much vacuum applying the brakes automatically. Take alook at the reservoir cap, too, to make sure it can breathe properly.
