I’ve been wrestling with the same problem and I think I’m going to order one of these

Oh sorry! I failed to report back. Thanks for asking.
In mid March I towed it to Big Bend and back, about 500 miles one way from Austin.
We were also about 25 miles off pavement camping on private land that needed 4wd to get to.
The trailer (and pintle in particular) performed amazingly...
I considered this but that castle nut would be a hassle to remove on the lunette ring post if I’m camping in a diff spot each night.

I’ve got my trailer ready to roll on an upcoming trip but I’m getting concerned that anyone that rolls up on it could rollaway with it.
It’s got a Lunette ring so a simple coupler lock wouldn’t work.
What do you folks do?

Hey T,
Thanks!
Yessir! Taking 15 gallons with me spread across 3 tanks so they’re easy to refill as we go past Panther Junction, etc.

I bought this trailer about a year ago and slowly began to accumulate parts, etc for an eventual build. A spring break trip (coming up soon!) to Big Bend accelerated my plans to get a “workable version 1” out the door.
This is the trailer as it stands as of today and I love it. Can’t wait to...
To follow up on @rnArmy’s well written write up on his pintle hook, I wanted to share my costs.
The military grade lunette ring (https://shop.midwestmilitary.com/) was $299.
The Curt pintle hook (Amazon Curt part 48004) for the 2” receiver on my Jeep was $76
My trailer is on jack stands...
My father in law worked for a military truck manufacturer for years. Mentioned the reversed lug nuts to him “OH YEAH! They are still made that way today”
