Simple and Capable - 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Build.

Funny I just sold it not too long ago, bought it on craigslist for a beater drift missile. It still had the single jingle KA24e in it.. Kid that had it cracked the head at cyl #4 so I sealed it and drifted it on 3 cylinders. It was a super clean base model car from Alaska. Unfortunately the...

Simple and Capable - 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Build.

CURRENT - IMG_5885 by Austin Irwin, on Flickr Some of you might remember my '94 Land Cruiser build thread that was fairly popular on here back in 2014-2015. (50,000+ views) Since then I had upgraded to a 2015 Tacoma Access Cab 4cyl 4WD, it was a great daily driver, extremely capable on the...

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm limited on internet using my mobile hot spot from my phone but I'm currently in San Diego, CA with the Tacoma, looking into some local trails to explore and hoping to head up to Pismo this weekend. Came out for the 4th but brought my Maxtrax, compressor...

Eventually I'll probably go with Icon's stage II kit, with that will come Methods and a larger tire. For the time being I'm happy with the Bilsteins and they will see many more miles!

Off to the Grand Canyon on Friday morning for an overnight camping trip, are there any trails that anyone can point me towards that allow camping? Trying to stay away from camp grounds and stick to the wild, taking my Tacoma and my dad is taking his 2nd gen. If I can't find anything we might...

Yeah been reading on different forums about people having to hunt them down in other states and struggling to order them, I feel like I found gold with this one for sure. Have a friend that has a '15 Tundra TRD 4x4, probably one of the most comfortable trucks I've driven!

My fault for not clarifying, that was going from Flagstaff to Sedona, which is all down hill lol. I average 19 in the city going to work and between 16-18 on highway. I got it to 34mpg between 4th and 5th gear cruising through Sedona.

So this all started by looking online at the new Tacoma's, about a week went by and the decision was made to try and find one. My dad and I went to the local Toyota dealer and I test drove an SR5 with the v6 and auto trans, while it wasn't the options I was looking for it gave me a good feel...

1994 Land Cruiser Build! Pic heavy.

Thinking about selling again, I recently found my way into a '16 TRD Off-Road Tacoma and haven't found time to work on this. 1994 Land Cruiser, 253xxx miles, White with very clean blue cloth interior, newer Cooper Discoverer 285's, recent oem tune-up and fuel filter. Arizona truck so no rust...

2015 Tacoma build/ progress thread. From day one!

Finally got around to cutting the insanely long front mud-flaps tonight, took no time at all, quick measurements, some masking and a dremel. Took off 7 inches! Did a first initial cut to get the big stuff out of the way then I went back over it to smooth any roughness and remove obvious...

2015 Tacoma build/ progress thread. From day one!

Been enjoying the tacoma in its stock form over the past few months, multiple lake trips and another trip to Sedona and this thing hasn't let me down! For its 7500 mile gift I decided to try out some Hankook Dynapros in 265/75/16. I read a ton of good reviews about them on tacomaworld and...

1994 Land Cruiser Build! Pic heavy.

Wow it's been months since the last update in this thread, progress is better than ever and many parts are piling up for a winter build- Best of all, rebuilt head with new OEM everything, valves, springs, seals.. Another rather large box should be showing up from Toyota this week...

Another delayed update, life got in the way of my second post so that'll be coming soon! Off to Expo in the morning! My dad and I will be heading out around 9:30am from Phoenix when I get off work, in the tacoma and the 80 will be staying home this time around, camping the first night at expo...

2015 Tacoma build/ progress thread. From day one!

I haven't done tires just yet, everyone has mixed opinions on getting bigger tires with the 2.7l, from what I've read online you wouldn't want to go bigger than a 265/75/16 without re-gearing, people say you'll feel a small power loss and lower mpg with that size. Personally I was looking into...

2015 Tacoma build/ progress thread. From day one!

Trip report! For my birthday last weekend I decided to take a spontaneous trip to northern AZ with my girlfriend to do some mild exploring through Flagstaff and down into Sedona, I eventually got the awning mounted about two weeks ago, my dad had a great idea of using muffler clamps to hold the...
