    Project "Autonomous" F-350

I've researched the dynamic balancing solutions that use medium inside the actual tire, but have never seen these. I'm also running beadlocks for field serviceability (Hutchinson border patrol takeoffs with a Dana 60/14BFF axles) and hadn't really come up with a balancing solution I liked...

    AmboVan Restarted

You can get computer fans with variable speed temperature sensors for pretty cheap. I've used ones from Thermaltake for years with good result.

    AmboVan Restarted

I think the real issue with the aluminum wiring is to spec it appropriately. 4 ga aluminum is not equivalent to 4 ga. copper. Cool stuff!

Any Fully built F150 expedition builds?

Fat City does legit work. You'll also notice that he completely replaced the half-ton suspension!

    Pink Panther Build

You probably already thought about this, but that concrete doesn't look completely flat. Any concern about that affecting the thickness?

Any Fully built F150 expedition builds?

The payload of a half-ton is really limiting. I'd think most guys, especially when on a budget, would start with a rig that doesn't need suspension and drivetrain upgrades from the start. Depends on what you're trying to do with it, I guess. (In the process of swapping a 1 ton drivetrain into...

M1010 expo build. The Mountain Turtle

Check out Badger Diesel on eBay if you're looking for a spare. $250 for their basic rebuild is a steal. That's typically what guys do with "stock" H1 rims; the backspacing is pretty extreme for full width axles.

The Belafonte - aka "Poor man's EarthRoamer" Ambulance Build

Hate to be that guy, but you should really reconsider the wasted space around that drawer. You've got plenty of room to work with now, but that's all going to disappear quick. Also keep in mind that as you're bouncing around anything in that drawer can jump out into the surrounding space. If...

    New Project (S15 Jimmy)

As you probably know, CUCVs run dual alternators for the 24v systems. You'd have to convert to a 12v starter and remove one alternator to mount the AC compressor. Civilian 6.2s did come with AC, so the brackets are already out there.

    New Project (S15 Jimmy)

If you're looking to reduce complication, the CUCV is most definitely the way to go. My glow plug relay has been bypassed to a dirt-simple relay and push button; works flawlessly. The only other electrical connections required to start and run it are a cable to the starter motor, and another...

    Scoutkid's van is HERE!!!

Mount a bus bar on your inner fender and run your loads of it. This particular one says it's rated to 600 continuous amps: http://bluesea.com/productspecs/2104. CUCVs came with a beefy pair on the firewall for the 24v loads, too.

2012 Dodge 5500 - Expedition Camper - The build has started

Do you have any idea who manufactures those windows? Had similar awning windows on a house I lived in and think they'd be perfect on a camper.

    M1009 (diesel Blazer) or FJ60?

Just wanted to clarify, since this is a common misunderstanding; the Blazers have different axles and gearing under them than almost all of the other CUCVs. 10 bolts front and rear with 3.08 gears, and open front diff and an Eaton Gov-lock are the standard equipment. Mine cruises around 70 MPH...

CUCV M-1009 Baja Chase/ pit support and Camping Project.

Here's what I've been working on (taking forever, but it's getting there) for the rear of mine. My passenger requirements are only my girlfriend and a dog (or two) so I opted to remove the rear seat for more storage and a nice sleeping platform. I'm planning on replacing the front seats with a...

    Raptors having frame issues

I think it's great that Ford is showing an interest in educating the community. So many of these owners have to be clueless about real off road safety; some of them admitted hitting triple digit speeds with no roll cage. Thinking your truck is indestructible at the same time is a recipe for...

CUCV M-1009 Baja Chase/ pit support and Camping Project.

I've just tracked down a similar problem with mine; under load for long periods of time, mostly grades at freeway speed, I get a little smokey and get little drops of oil all over the rear. At first I thought it was the valve covers weeping onto the exhaust manifolds when the oil pressure was...

CUCV M-1009 Baja Chase/ pit support and Camping Project.

I could probably come up with responses to each one of your points, because your project is so similar to the goals I have with my M1009, but I'll just pick one. You really caught my interest with the airbag suspension idea. I've got similar plans for a front and rear suspension inspired by...

    F 450 flatbed camper build

If your water separator container is full, any additional water in the fuel would get sprayed into the motor, but it's unlikely you have enough water in your tank to make visible smoke. I'm no certified diesel mechanic, but if the white smoke (steam) was actually coming out of the exhaust...
