    235/85/16? Let's see them

How do you like the new Firestones? I can't find much info on them including specs. They seem to be very light weight compared to other tires though if the specs I have found are accurate.

Unfortunately not. I would be ecstatic if they were .

    235/85/16? Let's see them

Damn, I started this thread over 9 years ago! I am currently running Cooper AT3 in 235/85 on my Xterra but am considering switching to 265/75/16 in a load range C. I love the size overall of the 235 but feel it is just too rough of a ride on a lighter vehicle like my Xterra. Especially as the...

Perfect off-highway tire = LTX? What?

Guilty. I am in need of new tires and I know that the Michelins will do everything I want them to and I have almost pulled the trigger more than once. I just can't get over how boring they look. They literally look like something a Camry would come with from the factory. I don't need anything...

A Dream Come to Fruition: My Epic 35 Day Roadtrip

That is Shryock's farm. They do a huge corn maze every year. Check out that link and see some of their past designs. Pretty cool! https://callawayfarms.com/the-corn-maze/past-designs/

A Dream Come to Fruition: My Epic 35 Day Roadtrip

Great write up so far. I think this pic was taken about 6 miles from my house. Right outside of Kingdom City? Unfortunately even on the nicest day, Missouri is a fairly boring drive.

Creative ways of washing roof under roof rack??? Looking for suggestions....

How much room is between the roof and the rack? Could try an extendable squeegee with a microfiber wrapped around it. May have to cut the rubber squeegee part off but may work.

What's next? after a Gen 3 Montero, or Montero Sport...

I went from a 2001 Montero Sport to a 2013 Xterra and wished I had done it sooner. I enjoyed the MS but was tired of working on it. The Xterra is dead reliable, dead simple, powerful and I get 18-22 mpg depending on the season. The 2nd gen dates back to 2005 so they can be found really cheap or...

    Alternatives to Dynamat?

Do yourself a favor and read about the 3 steps properly quiet a vehicle down. I see people cover the entire vehicle with a Dynamat type product and don't even realize that it isn't doing much. Sure it deadens the panel and helps with rattles but does little to nothing to keep road/ambient noise...

Alternator woes on a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited

I'm not sure if the full size is the same but I had a Montero Sport with the 3.5l V6 and they were notorious for leaking oil onto the alternator which would fry them prematurely. It's been a while but I think it was maybe the cam seals that leaked or maybe just the valve cover gaskets. Either...

I didn't want to ask but am awfully curious as well.

    New 2018 Colorado ZR2 - Icedragonmx's Trip Reports

Sad indeed. I never spoke with him but as an Xterra owner I was following his old thread and then started following this thread after he got the Colorado.

    Post Your Montero SPORT Pics!

Glad to see this thread is still going (somewhat). I created it over 6 years ago but have since parted with my Sport. The miles were getting pretty high (just over 200k) and I was tired of hunting down and repairing oil leaks. As cheap as they are these days, I still think about buying another...

Why not more Grand Cherokee overland vehicles??

Mostly because there are much better options. Jeep as a whole has a reputation for poor reliability particularly when it comes to electronics. Reliability and safety are the most important things when it comes to vehicle supported travel.

    Looking for some friendly advise.

Welcome. You definitely posted in the right section to ask questions about the Landcruiser. The 100 series wasn't offered in the states with a manual transmission so that makes that decision easy for you :sombrero: In general, for reliability's sake, it's best to not get too carried away with...

Got my dad to join the Montero gang

Sure does. It's the only reason I bought my 2013 Xterra. I looked and looked for an older vehicle like a 2nd gen Montero or Trooper but they were all rusty and just plain wore out.
