Nice rig. I am curious though as to why there is such a large air gap in between the truck roof and the cabover? I havent noticed that on too many others?

This is good to hear. I was spoiled with my fuly loaded Fleetwood Caribou but it was obviously not good for off road use. My Dodge is our designated Baja/desert/chase vehicle. I have had 3 Callen campers and one is on the truck now which is perfect for my use but I need a few more comforts...ie...

Im looking to pick one up but am not sure how they handle high desert wind, rain, ect. while poped up. Basically, am I going to be miserable trying to sleep in this thing in a desert wind storm or heavy rains..... do they leak/blow thru the canvas? Do they make a ton of noise? Im very familiar...

Its puff, puff, pass...they are all HIGH! I've been wanting to do the whole truck for a while now and best quote so far is $4500. These guys sure are proud of their product. I may just set up a spray booth and do it myself.

I had an 86 with the 2.9 and remember replacing the thermostat..... along with the head gasket...... and resurfacing the head. Your thermostat is most likely stuck.
