Custom Front Seats for Gen 2 Montero

What aftermarket seat choices (from other OEM Vehicles) have you found work well with the Gen 2's? I'd like to find something with the integrated armrest and maybe adapt it to the bouncy seat frame. I currently have a near perfect set of seats in my 95SR. I pulled the back seats, and am...

    Gen 2 smartphone mount

It's been a while since I posted, but I thought I'd share an idea I came up with for a pretty cool smartphone mount for my 1995 SR. I've used it for over a year and it works great. What I've done is taken the plastic face plate off the dash where the radio sits, and I created a metal mount that...

Tracking down short that is blowing my combination meters fuse on 95SR

I think I have finally figured out what it is: apparently the water temp sending unit is shorting out. Funny thing, is we pulled the wire from it so it won't continue to short, but for some reason, now the montero will barely start and won't run at all. Step on the gas it dies. Yet, plug in the...

1995 Montero SR Dash Gauges Fuse is blowing

It has about 110k miles on it, all of the sudden the fuse that controls the speedometer, tach, water temp, oil pressure, fuel tank level gauges/lights has been popping. As soon as I turn the ignition it pops. The 4x4 light works as well as the light that indicates overdrive. Any ideas?

Need Alternator Belt Tensioner Bracket for 1995 SR

Anyone know of a good source? My mechanic says it needs to be replaced.

    More Gen 2 seat questions

I am a reasonably tall guy 6'3" and when I am driving my '95 SR, with my electric seat all the way back, my knees are almost touching the dash- its a pretty tight fit, and I'd like to have my knees at least 3" from the dash. A friend of mine who has the 95 LS is at least a couple inches taller...

    95 rear seat

How do i take out the back seat? I'm at the stereo shop and we can't forget where the amplifier is and I think I remember seeing someone saying that was under the seat

Looking for Tablet Dash Mount Thread

A couple of months ago, I was reading an old thread where someone mounted a dash mount tablet to their Monty. I could have sworn I bookmarked the page, but for the life of me I cannot find it. It wasn't the guy who used the harbor freight stuff, it was where a mount was attached behind the...

Word of caution on building a storage box in the back

A couple of weekends ago, I got a "great idea" to build a box to put in back of my '95 SR to store tow straps, chains, jumper cables and various assorted tools. I've been checking around looking at all the cool boxes people have been making with the fancy drawers and locks etc. So a couple of...

    Bouncy seats, et al....

I could have sworn I posted this already, but it didn't show up.... so here goes again..... You guys say this subject has been talked to - to death, but after spending over 2.5 hours looking at old posts, my questions aren't answered, so bear with me.... 1. What years will I find bouncy seats...

Have all your new parts on the bench, before you start

This last summer I picked up a '95 SR with 100,000 miles on it. It was in primo condition and looked like it was garaged it's whole life. It smoked (I'm sure for sitting so long) and since I know enough about mechanics to REALLY get myself in trouble (DOHC), I took it to a recommended specialist...

    1995 SR Cassette/Radio double din

So I have the (I guess) double din cassette/radio w equalizer. I assume there is an amp somewhere.... is this an Infinity unit? If not, any idea what it is? My 95 is in really good condition, and the radio sounds ok, but I was wondering if there were a way to make it a little sound better...

    Removable winch mount in bumper?

I have a Montero and I would like to get some sort of (not fancy)lightweight steel bumper for the front and rear which has some sort of built in cavity where a winch could be optionally mounted in the front or the rear. Something like a reasonably light 4 or 6" channel iron bumper and having the...

    Tires

I would think that this topic has been talked to death about, but in my search on the topic only 8 responses showed up, so with hesitation, I ask this seemingly obvious question: It looks like my Primewell tires are wearing badly, so I may need to make a change in tires. I live near Lake Tahoe...

    Reno, NV Area Mechanics?

I was thinking about replacing my cam seals, but due to the timing of it being winter and I don't have a warm shop to work in, I was wondering if anyone knows of a reliable Mitsubishi shop/mechanic in Reno/North Lake Tahoe that can take on this mission. I called the dealer and wasn't impressed...

    ON the fly adjustable shocks

I love these things in my '95 SR, but some day they will have to be replaced. Does anyone make replacements for them that adjust like the originals. I'm afraid to ask how much.

My 95 SR is smoking a bit....

The '95 SR I recently bought is smoking a bit at start up and is most likely (as per everyone's common comment) the valve guide seals. I need advice: This Monty has 105k miles on it and is in immaculate condition- it looks like it was garage kept.... BUT as we all know, it is 22 years old...

Traction device for over snow travel

So, the standard for years has been a good set of tire chains for back country over snow travel in your 4x4. But lately there have been new products coming out in regards to traction devices like tire socks and other assorted options. I was wondering if anyone has tried any of these new devices...

New noise from my 1995 Monty SR.... advice please....

I have a noise coming from my crank pulley that sounds like a cross between loose valve tappets and a bad bearing. I listened for the noise at the point of the front crank seal and it is quiet- the noise is only coming from the front crank pulley and is getting progressively louder by the...

The tires on my "new to me" 1995 Montero

are a pretty aggressive off brand 30x9.50 tire. They are noisy and although pretty aggressive, I am thinking I want more of a less aggressive snow-specific tire since most of my winter driving will be on highways and occasional off-road situations. I was looking in the local paper and found a...
