Compare 1986 and 2016 Toyota pickups

the Jalopnik article about the ”TRD Pro" line is pretty brutal, but ultimately spot on... http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/why-the-2015-toyota-tacoma-trd-pro-is-a-cool-idea-with-1670461402

    Is a 4Runner for me?

then you don't want a 4Runner: tows 5000 lb. max; so, call it ~4000 in real life. sure, it'll pull, but if you're towing regularly it's not the best tool for the job.

2014 4Runner TE "Momma Bear" Build

get a set of the ICON shin guards while you're at it to help protect those shafts from getting sandblasted. they're ridiculously exposed.

    5th Gen 4Runner KDSS

either Bridgestone Duelers or Dunlop AT20; both P-rated tires to maximize MPG. yeah, there is no Torsen center diff on the 5G SR5 and Trail Edition (Limited still has it, however) it's an "old-fashioned" part-time 4WD system so it doesnt have the MultiMode 4WD option of driving in 4H with the...

    5th Gen 4Runner KDSS

i can appreciate that it would suck if you didn't want KDSS but the only 4Runner you could find had it. all the more frustrating because KDSS is actually kind of hard to find. then again, i think it's also pretty hard to find an owner who actively dislikes it, so it doubly stinks if you're...

    5th Gen 4Runner KDSS

i bought my '10 Trail w/KDSS new, and have a full ICON suspension. rides great; very little body lean before i installed the suspension, and virtually none now. an aftermarket suspension isn't incompatible with KDSS unless you're going long-travel. to your question: i too have a steep...

    2016 HiLux sneak peak.

that 2016 Hilux front end looks pretty good to me. K.I.S.S. the styling difference between the GX470 and the GX460 truly is bananas, however. i'm still not a fan of the 2014+ 4Runner front end, but when i see how some of its elements (fog light "gills"; basking shark grille) bled over from/were...

2013 Toyota 4Runner, Equipt Edition Build

you can swap out suspension and lift w/ KDSS, just changes the install process slightly is all.

2015 4Runner w/ KDSS - Skid Plate Decision: ARB vs. the Others

just a heads up that the new TRD Pro front skid isn't compatible with KDSS (which OP notes he has). seems fairly trivial to trim it to accommodate the movement of the thicker KDSS sway bars but no one has done it yet, to my knowledge.

TRD PRO Tundra Test Drive Review

no ruffled feathers here. i run the ICON tubular UCAs as well—nothing "cheapo" about 'em! :^)

TRD PRO Tundra Test Drive Review

it's all subjective. and any aftermarket kit is better than stock, really, so no argument there! :^)

TRD PRO Tundra Test Drive Review

if the OEM Tokico shocks on the KDSS-equipped 4Runners are progressive valved, it's news to me. whatever the case, i have ICON 2.5 extended travel coil overs and 2.5 remote reservoir rears on my KDSS Trail and they feel WAY WAY BETTER than the stock setup. way less harsh and jarring; body far...

TRD PRO Tundra Test Drive Review

just wanted to add that you can, in fact, buy the TRD Pro parts a' la carte. so you could buy that suspension if you really wanted to. but i think you'll get a much better value if you go with an aftermarket suspension that's been tuned for the Tundra (e.g., Fox, ICON, King, OME).

TRD PRO Tundra Test Drive Review

Toyota of Portsmouth? i drove by there recently and saw that TRD Pro Tundra from the road. in my experience, Toyota of Portsmouth doesn't move the kind of inventory volume necessary to make a great deal; they try to make more markup per sale. the TRD Pro suspension is digressive, fwiw.

May be pulling the trigger on a 2010-2011 4Runner Trail Edition

mine is Salsa Red and i love it; relatively rare vehicle in a very rare color. when i was shopping, red wasn't my first choice either, but 4 years later i'm happier with the red than i think i'd've been in the silver i'd originally planned.

    Colonal's +Adventure Prescription+ | A Toyota 4Runner 5th Gen Story

marshal is dishing lots of good info here. i'll just add that way, way back when OME first announced its suspension for the 5th Gen 4Runner, folks on T4R pointedly asked OME about post-install alignment specs and the need for UCAs. OME was decidedly silent on the issue. didn't give me a good...

    TRD Pro

yes, that's got KDSS. you can tell by the beefy swaybar attached to the lower control arm just forward of the lower shock mount.

    sr5sushi's 4runner build thread

i don't have any experience with either, but fwiw i'm heavily considering Icon coilovers and rear shocks for my 2010. let us know what you decide!
