    Tundra vs LC200 Parts Commonality

Lots of wear and maintenance parts are common between 5.7L Tundras and 5.7L LCs. Filters, brake pads, belts, tensioners, wheel bearings, etc. Transmission is identical, Engine is close enough to swap across. The Tundra isn't a global platform (until the latest gen that is on the same...

    High mileage and trips

It comes down to your faith in the maintenance that has been done and your ability to deal with the unknown. If you're very familiar with the vehicle, confident in the work that has been done, and flexible enough to adapt if something goes sideways, go for it. Definitely address anything that...

Best engine for Land Cruiser Troopy

I have a 4BT/NV4500 in my FJ40, and I'd not put it in a vehicle for long distance driving. It has great power and torque, gets 20mpg with 3.73 gears and 35s. It can run down the highway better than a 50 year old brick should. But, it's loud and rattly. I enjoy it for a toy, but I'd hate it...

    100 or 200 series with 200k miles?

I've never owned a 100 or 200 series with less than 200k miles :) due to... Budget Constraints... ;) My prior 2000 100 series had 327k miles on it and I would have trusted it to go anywhere. It was well kept and holding up well. I sold it and upgraded to a 2008 200 series cruiser with 202k...

    2006 or 2013 Land Cruiser?

I've had both. Towing and Daily Driving, I much prefer my 2008, but I agree with Riptide, the 100 series has a little more soul to it. A good rust free example of either will exceed 350k miles with good maintenance. I sold my 2000 with 326k miles on it, and would have trusted it to go across...

    200 Series Wheels

Icon Alloys also makes the Rebound in good specs for the 200 series. I've been looking for the elusive Rock Warriors, but for the price of a good used set of Rock Warriors, you can buy a new set of Icon Rebounds, which I think have a better offset for bigger tires anyway (+25 vs +50 on the RWs)

    200 Series Newbie Questions

I've owned 2 2nd Gen Tacomas, a 2000 100 series, and now a 2008 200 series. The 200 series blows the others away with power and smoothness. The 100 series was great, better than my Tacomas for comfort and drive ability. Drive them all and make your decision. No way I'd spend $40k+ on a TRD...

Thoughts on this 100? Things to be wary of?

I recently tested the 300k+ waters and bought a 2000 with 311k. So far so good. Mine had a bunch of new parts and copious service history. To one poster above's point, you're not risking much. If it doesn't have any rust, worst case is you take what you save over a lower mileage truck and...

    ExPo 100 Series Registry

The Family Truckster 1. Year, model, color, etc: 2000 LC, Champagne Pearl 2. Name of owner/screen name: Tim C/Kayak Taco 3. How long have you owned your 100 series? Is this your first? 1 month for this 100 series. This is my first 100 series, have had 2 Tacos (still have one) and still have...

3rd gen 4Runner vs Jeep Cherokee XJ.

Consider a v8 zj as well. Interior is much nicer than the XJ, 4 linked coil rear, and they're often cheaper than the xjs because they're somewhat more common. Plus you can do a cheap lift via the front to rear spring swap and new shocks.

Advice for wheel size to fit 35" tires on lifted '13 Tundra

I have nothing to add other than damn nice truck!

Can it be done?: Swing-out Tire Carrier and Carry 4 Bikes

I'd want a really heavy duty pivot. The usual trailer spindle pivots won't cut it. I'd also want a double shear mout style hinge. Even then I'd be worried. Imagine the hell that will come from your tire and 4 bikes liberating from your truck at 80mph.

Building a possible Tacoma. Have some questions.

I'd say if you find the truck you want with it, go for it. For mild wheeling, you probably won't put in an ARB, but it'd be nice to have the factory locker if it's already there. Also IMHO, the TRD sport/offroad seats are way more comfortable than the base/sr5 seats. If buying used, I'd...

2nd Gen Tacoma - Frequent Towing an Issue?

Will it do it, sure. I towed a 4000lb tractor on a 1600lb trailer from SC to NH with mine, along with two people, two dogs, a Kayak and two bicycles on the roof, and the camper shell filled to the brim. Definitely get a weight distributing hitch with sway control. That $300 purchase paid for...

Rear winch installed in 2012 fj cruiser

without a fairlead you shouldn't do any pulls other than straight back. The winch body is not designed to have the cable pulling rubbing against the its sides under load. You will also likely damage that nice synthetic rope rubbing against the sides of the winch and whatever else you have...

    '04 Taco/Durashell build

Nice build, that Durashell is sweet. I already have visions of adding windows, vents, etc and kitting it out as an RV... If you don't mind, what does a bare Durashell set you back? I searched on-line, but nobody posts prices... Thanks!

Whitewater Assault Vehicle - 2007 TRD OR Access Cab 6Spd

Ryan - Thanks! As far as expedition camping spots, there's not much I know of in the Whites. However, I have camped at Crawford Notch and Pinkham notch, and both are nice as far as state campgrounds. Last weekend, I went through Sandwich Notch Road (from Merideth area to Waterville Valley)...

Whitewater Assault Vehicle - 2007 TRD OR Access Cab 6Spd

Blake - I have never paddled in MT, hoping someting is still going out there this July. I've spent several weeks paddling all over Colorado and California. Sierra California Granite is my favorite... East Fork Kaweah attached... I know all about cold water. In New England, the melt is...

Whitewater Assault Vehicle - 2007 TRD OR Access Cab 6Spd

West - Nope, Rack is a 1 of a Kind I made in my Garage. It's 1.75" x .065" Tube that I bent using my JD2 Bender. I made one similar for my Titan as well. I much prefer the round tube bent close to the shell design over any of the commercially available options. Problem is that if you want...

Whitewater Assault Vehicle - 2007 TRD OR Access Cab 6Spd

Blakeape Right Side of Magilla... My Jeep was on 1 tons, chopped top, fully caged, etc. I had a lot of fun with it but grew tired of having to trailer it everywhere, and having a rig I couldn't drive on general explorations, hence the Tacoma. Crawling is fun, but expensive, and not as much...
