Ford Excursion and $5k To Spend: What Would You Do?

I'd save that money for a Cummins swap. :D For the 05 grille, you'll need the head lights and I think front fenders. I know you need the lights. My brother looked at doing the same to his old F250. At that point, you can pick out the 08-10 front end too. Since you drive a lot, I'm serious...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

My 07 2.5i outback is pushing oil out the top of the drivers head gasket. Going to replace the PCV valve and see if it helps.

    2001 Suburban 1500 for towing?

You guys are over analyzing it. My parents have 11 kids. Vacation starts with packing a trailer. Since 4 of us have moved out and another looking, they go on more vacations now. 6x12x6 single axle torsion beam trailer with luggage is what they use. They have an 05 LT 1500. 212k miles now...

    2015 Subaru Outback: The Anti-Wrangler

Some misinformation. Up until 2009, the manual cars had a viscous center diff with a 50/50 power split. The autos had an electronic locking diff with a 70/30 split when not locked. The autos you can wire up for a switch to get it locked when you want. However I've never found an instant yet...

    Totaled Montero...thinking Subaru replacement?

I love my 07 2.5i Outback. Mild offroading and really badly maintained gravel roads are fine.

Tuner is around $389. Almost all of TQM is gone. Something about keeping a little to save on trans hard parts. It helps to not break anything when it shifts into the next gear.

Its OK. It goes quicker from 20-60 than 0-15mph. I ran mine (285/75/20 tires, CAI, exhaust) down the 1/4 miles. 17.xx at 88mph. The stock tuning makes for HORRID torque management before 10mph. Once past 10mph, torque management starts to loosen up. I'll get a Diablo Sport tuner if I don't sell...

New RAM half-ton EcoDiesel gets 28mpg?..

Why would a company use a 3rd party engine when you already own a reliable diesel? Nissan also showcased a Frontier with a 2.8L Cummins and GM showcased a 2.8L Duramax in their Colorado/Canyons.

New RAM half-ton EcoDiesel gets 28mpg?..

And you have to remember that the EPA testing of diesels makes for dismal numbers. HD's aren't rated so we don't know what they get until people start driving them. However, TDi's and Cruze diesels are knocking the EPA highway and combined mileage over having better real world results. Cruze is...

OBD II reader. Best bang for the buck?

This is one reason I like Dash command. It uses fuel lbs/hr vs odometer reading to get a damn accurate MPG reading.

    Time to retire the F150

I have a 8.1L I might be selling. PM me if you're interested.

OBD II reader. Best bang for the buck?

What do you mean iOS? I have it on my RAZR. More features and way more PIDs available than the Torque app. I've bought both, and love the DC.

OBD II reader. Best bang for the buck?

Dash Command has a PC version. http://www.palmerperformance.com/products/dashcommand/index.php?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_term=National&utm_campaign=Daily%20Email And the problem with laptop tuners is lack of open source software. You either buy expensive tuning software for each...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

Just picked this up on Monday. I think I'm going to sell the Suburban and get a Forrester... 07 2.5i Auto with 97k miles on it. She's happy, I'm happy. The selectable manual mode is a very nice feature.

OBD II reader. Best bang for the buck?

For a good Android or iOS OBD2 reader app, look up Dash Command. I like it way better than Torque.

    1500 Suburban vs. Something Else?

The thing with a 2500 Burb from 01-06 is you get the 6.0 or 8.1 engines and neither are as fuel efficient as the 5.3. If that's OK with you then I suggest a 8.1L. Nominal hit in mileage and better power stock. You might even get it cheaper as its such a big engine. Mine has 20x10 (I think)...

    Vehicle air conditioning really necessary?

Here's a tip I learned from a friend. I was complaining of a hot sweaty back. He told me to crank the AC (Chevy's have awesome systems) and turn on the seats heat. Wow! It felt like a massage and the AC negated the extra heat.
