How to make a cheap isolated dual-battery setup for $50

I have seen one of these batteries explode, it was an n70z, we use two of them on each work truck for 24V. The battery was fairly old, it was on the truck when we bought it, and the side of the battery was curved outwards a little. One day the driver started the truck and an almighty POP...

    Question about mounting camper

Lively Zach nice question, I too am looking forward to an answer, I recently added a van to the back of my 12T Hino but it was directly to the chassis via anti-torsion mounts, not on an existing tray. I would prefer to have some system using a flatbed so I can remove the van once I reach my...

Antique Land Cruiser on the road since 2003

I had a perfectly good bulb do this to me in my Hino the other week... the rust had completely separated the electrical connection! I had to smash the good bulb to pry the base of it out with a screwdriver (carefully, without damaging the socket.) Then I cleaned up the socket with a miniature...

Expeditions 7: Two Years Around the World on all Seven Continents.

If you are all gonna be in Australia in November as scheduled (even after having to backtrack across half the Asian continent), I must give you a heads up for an astronomical event occurring at dawn on Nov 14 (total solar eclipse) which starts in Arnhem Land NT and crosses the Gulf of...

    Single rear wheel conversion...

Jared I was also searching for a thread on this subject a couple of weeks back with not much luck. I remember finding some comments by a tour operator in Far North Queensland saying he had snapped a couple of studs running singles, but that's about it. If you find anything lemme know too...

    stupid idea?

the only drawback i can think of is ventilation... but in a cold cold winter I guess stuffy can suddenly become cosy ;) I say do it! :D Chameleon style! You can even make it pay its own way by transporting cold cuts! And roadkill suddenly has extra value ;)

    Cairns eclipse, November 2012

Hi all, I'm new to this site... I posted this in another forum already, but now that I found this one I figured it might be more appropriate seeing as its not lumped in with Europe, Asia and Africa as well. (well at least we are kind of close to Asia) xD Is anyone heading to the eclipse...

    Hino 4x4

Gladly. I run a spreading company with my uncle. We have two Hino's ('86 and '89) and two Mitsubishis (similar vintage) Not sure if those are too dated for your interest so I will keep this brief unless you ask for more ^^ Mitsubishi doesn't come in 4x4, but seems to use less fuel and the...

    Hino 4x4

I would love to know more about this single wheel conversion. I drive an '89 GT as a spreader in WA 7 months of the year, looking to take it across to the November eclipse in Cairns, would prefer singles on the back! Is it hard to convert from one to the other? Is it as simple as fitting...
