Montero Gen 2.5 (NL) Capacities, Part Numbers and Specialty Tools List

Yes, make sure it is the correct length, there is a small difference in length between the 3.5 and 3.0 updated crank bolts. Also make sure you get the updated washer as well. Add some extra locktite when installing.

Crank Pulley decided to go for a walk...

I think I have enough flat bar to make you one if you'd like. I'll double check when I get home and let you know this evening. Shoot me a pm and we'll work something out!

Crank Pulley decided to go for a walk...

Alright, so here are the specs on the tool: Flat bar is 2"x1/8"x36" (I cut it nearly in half though), also need two 3/8"x2" bolts and nuts. I drilled out the holes for the bolts first, and then dropped a sharpie down the center of the pulley to mark my center point. I used a 1 3/8" metal hole...

Montero Gen 2.5 (NL) Capacities, Part Numbers and Specialty Tools List

Another design for the crankshaft pulley specialty tool. I will update the specs tonight once I get home. Cost was $7 in hardware for the flat bar and a couple of nuts/bolts/washers at Home Depot. Took about 5 minutes to mark some holes, drill, and cut out the center with a hole-saw.

Montero Alarm system removal, Gen 2.5

Great write up, I had issues with one of the screws for the fuel door release as well, but I just loosened everything else up and was able to access everything I needed. Yanked out the box and sensor, cut and soldered 2 wires, and I was back in business! Took me about 20 minutes including the...

Crank Pulley decided to go for a walk...

I'll have to look when I get home, I think the bolts are 3/8" x 2", I'll get the rest of the info later on. Was pretty simply to make and had zero flex when I torqued the bolt.

I used the part # from Jay's list as well and confirmed that it was the most up to date bolt/washer available.

Crank Pulley decided to go for a walk...

nwoods, the first step is to determine whether or not you have the updated version. The updated verson is much shorter than the older versions and also includes a newly designed washer. Their is another thread that was started that shows the difference between the two. If you are able to get a...

    quick revised/updated crank bolt question

I would definitely replace yours asap. I just had mine loosen up and cause my pulley to come off. It's cheap insurance to swap it out now.

Crank Pulley decided to go for a walk...

I can honestly say I'm relieved it wasn't much worse than it was. BOPOH, basically the bolt loosened up and allowed the crankshaft pulley to walk off. The guy I bought the truck for told me it had just recently had a ton of maintenance done to it (this was in September) but it seems like pretty...

Crank Pulley decided to go for a walk...

1998 Gen 2.5 I was pulling out of my driveway a couple of weeks ago and lost power steering temporarily. I figured it was cold and maybe the fluid was just really viscous, then about 2 blocks later I completely lost steering and my battery light kicked on. By some miracle I was able to drive it...

    New to me Dodge Raider/monetero/pajero

4x4wire is probably going to have a lot more info on these. I had a couple of them and my favorite was my 89' V6 5 speed, although it wasn't much more powerful than the 4cylinder. I can't really tell from the pics, but it looks like you have the 4 cylinder carb'd version. I would suggest taking...

    changing rear camshaft seals

I'll be doing the same this Sunday, it doesn't seem very hard at all. I'm going to spray a ton of degreaser back there though, I can't stand the smell of burning oil every time I park and get out. I'll try to do a write up if I don't get too lazy.

    Gen 2.5 towing?

Dolly should be fine, just make sure to pay the extra for the insurance. You don't want to be stuck with the bill if a tire blows, or a bearing goes out while you are towing. Drop the driveshaft from the diff and raise and tuck it away as possible from anything that moves, make sure it doesn't...
