LOL, I wondered what the world was coming to when I broke the $10 barrier for a haircut. :)

I used to be able to get mine cut at the State Prison for $1.
You can't just lay that out there without saying something more.

anything you can do in 100, you can do better in an 80. except go to the mall.

I disagree. The 100 has a lot more pep. It tows a trailer a lot better than an 80. And it goes down the pavement so much more smoothly and is much quieter. And you can load kids so much easier in a 100. The legroom is much better in the backseat. I can also pass the gas pump a few more times without stopping, and yes I'm running the same 315 size as I did on my 80. So there are a lot of things a 100 can do better. That being said, in an off highway environment I still prefer an 80.

I actually think I would prefer a 200 over a 100. Everything I've read about the newer ATRAC and the downhill descent control etc... has said that it is phenomenal. But since I haven't won the lottery I won't find that out real soon. Heck, I've never even seen one yet. I won't even "qualify" for a test drive for 6-7 years.

Like many of you I scoffed at the price of the 100 series and never thought I could afford one. Well, they are a lot cheaper now. And in many ways a better value than some used 80s. 80s are becoming a victim of their own success. Try finding one without 150k on the clock. And much as I loved my 80 and it never left me stranded, it did require a lot of expensive maintenance. 100s will never be rock crawlers with the stock suspension set up. So people who want a family hauler rock crawler are not going to be sucking up 100s which makes their prices lower. Compare a 98 100 price to a 97 80.

I'm really hoping the prices fall on the 100s now that the 200 is out. I really want to get the wife into one... I probably shouldn't have sold the LX, but I did end up with the 55 because of it!!

I'll definitely be looking at the 200's in 5-7 years :chowtime:

I wouldn't count on the prices falling, I couldn't find a 2007 for sale... they are going like hot cakes because nobody likes the 2008. No shifter for the transfer case (push button), and ugly body styling..... I don't like the 08 either so I got out to try to find a 100 asap so they wouldn't be all gone. I ended up with a cherry 2004, 100 series and man I'm lovin it!

You jest now, but in 5 years they will be an awesome used value.

Very true but can we pay for the gas by then. Assuming you would then keep the truck for a number of years to and all.

sure someones gonna... but i notice the platform is getting.... closer to the earth, with decreased angles to boot. LC's are getting to be less an less a version of a cushy super truck, and more and more a 4wd station wagon in design. notice the 200's will not have a work truck version like the 100's. i dont see this one as being the best used suv for off road duty anymore. i think the nissan x-terras/pathfinders will take that mantle.
Toyota makes the 79series everywhere else in the world to fill the needs of a "work" model.

Say what you will about the new Cruiser, hell I'm not really digging it either, I want them to give us the 79, but compared to all the Luxo-barge psuedo off-roaders it still gets the job done to a degree that NOTHING in that kind of trim range can even come close to. And now finally it's got a powerfull motor to boot.

Didn't someone already post some spy shots of a 200 getting bumpers and armor??? Cause to me, all of the body clading I that makes it look so wierd, and to an alarming rate like the Highlander, Would be replaced by a bull bar and sliders.

I watched an hour long shortfilm about the 08 cruiser. Nice, no doubt. It has this feature, you select the type of terrain your going over and that you want to crawl over it. Then let off the gas and just steer. I mean really! Whats the world coming to. Cruise control to go over boulders? For $70k and no diesel, forget it.

The ORE built 200 was really nice. I think this is the one someone mentioned.
